I am running push-pull config on all... fans are Rosewill Hyperboreas (1300 max RPM - SP is around 2.76 at max with 89cfm (specs). They move air really well through those rads... and are amazing quiet even maxed out.
I tried some B-Gears Blasters... hated them in testing (loud... rattles and clicks.. whines... bad leds, and even had one that wobbled.) I decided to stick with the Rosewills. I have had two of those running in another system (with fine filters, pretty restrictive) for over a year with no problems... they seem like great fans. When needed, I can run them wide open without blowing eardrums, lol!
The 140mm high SP selection is small... when you want quiet also.
I guess this was a silly question on my part... too many variables!
Phanteks 140mm if you want a good 140mm. Anyways, rad clearance refers to how much area can the radiator take up. For instance, if I have 100mm radiator clearance that means the radiator and fans can add up to be at most 100mm thick. Beyond that the motherboard, drive bays, PCI slots, whatever it may be obstruct the path. For instance if I use the HWLabs GT Xtreme and I want push/pull fans then the radiator takes up 55mm of space, and each fan set will take up 25mm of space meaning I need at least 105mm of clearance.
