[CNET] Sony PlayStation 4 racks up 6 million sales - Page 2

I don't buy a console for the OS. Neither have many games to play, that's the issue with buying at launch. How many consoles sell out-the-gate is very important for publishers developing games for the platform.

Yep, he certainly is. He even stated that he's sad so many people are enjoying the PS4. That's very telling.

If only he took my advice in throwing the cash towards a pc instead /sigh

That's because both the Xbox One and PS4s GPUs aren't likely being fully utilized yet, the PS4s massive hardware advantage and shared architecture means that it'll either have better graphics, a higher resolution or higher average FPS compared to the Xbox One.

That "very impressive OS running in the background" means that the gaming OS is also on a VM and getting another ~10% performance penalty on top of the slower hardware the XBO already has. Sony aren't as good at designing user interfaces as MS has been in the past but then again, the Blades UI wasn't great either.

The Controller is also a big improvement, not as good as the 360/XB1 controller but pretty close. Which IMO is great because the PS3 controller was crap.

Also kinda funny sony advertised the PS3 as a media machine while other then bluray just fell flat. 360 was a much better streaming machine. Though now PS4 is even a worse media machine tongue.gif kinda funny sony took that path. Cinavia DRM not thank you Sony. And now that you need to pay for PSN, XBL just looks that much better of a service. As XBL on XB1 not only gives you dedicated servers but a solid secure platform. Can't tell you the number of times PSN was down when I went to go play it, and the number is not small. But the service is a lot better now.

PS4 will be worth it when uncharted comes out, still wishing we picked up the XB1 instead though and just waited to get a PS4.

XB1 is up there in sales as well, the real joke here is the WiiU tongue.gif

i buy consoles to play games. if i wanted a streaming device, i would buy a chromecast for $30. ms obviously overestimated the amount of people who would pay a premium for a smart tv device. the ps4 has what almost 2x xbox sales at this point? if things continue like this, it's going to seriously skew the development of exclusives in the ps4's favor

Still am, i'm not the one that really wanted the PS4. I knew what the PS4 was offering, I just don't support the dumb founded XB1 hate by misinformed people. The XB1 cost more because you get more, simply is a higher class of console. It is a Multi Purpose Machine, not just a gaming only thing that sits under your TV. I still use my PS3 for blu-rays as I don't want to degrade the PS4's disc drive, and already played killzone (meh) so box just sits there. I see both consoles for what they are, I don't go around chanting M$ DRM NSA every post. I also never said anything bad about the PS4 other then the apparent flaws.

And first hand experience has proven to me that this console is still vary lacking for a device from late 2013.
Imagine getting a brand new phone now running android 2.0, but on top of that add DRM and as well ATM no streaming abilities other then things like netflix. As that is what the PS4 is like ATM.

Sorry if I like highly functional devices. The XB1 has already proven to provide a more impressive console experience, just the hardware isn't as good. Though I would take the Quality software MS tosses on devices then the by far basic software sony put on the ps4. I cringe every time I see that the PS4 still loads the store as a app still vs being integrated into the OS. Just not fluid in my eyes. And No dedicated servers for PSN is a huge downer.

Though I buy consoles for the exclusives not graphics. Got a PC for that.

PS4 is a good console, but not a great console. Don't really enjoy the fact they list any game you ever installed on your home page, huge eye soar. They should have stuck with the XMB as that was 10x better then the current dashboard they chose for the ps4. And I wasn't a huge fan of XMB, but atleast it worked decently enough. Didn't hide the option to turn off the controller in sub menus ether.

I actually liked the Blades, might not have had the best look but was vary functional for a gaming machine at the time. You could do what you needed to do faster then any console OS I have ever seen. IMO was fitting for the time period. But more of a love hate thing for a lot of people. I liked the later versions still.

Do you buy a phone just to make calls?

I don't game as much as I used too, and can't always use it for gaming as there is only so many games out for it. So it pretty much much sits there when not gaming. I do 90% of my gaming on a PC. Wouldn't even touch a game on a console if I could get it on the PC. Atleast the XB1 lets you stream movies and allowing you to skip buying a HTPC or something for that task. Though I do have a HTPC anyways. I just think more options the better.

yeah people buy phones as all around computing devices because people want something they always have access to on the go, but i really don't think they buy consoles for the same purpose. when you're at home, you have access to so many other better options for general computing than a console.

it's the same thing as w8 basically. guess what, i don't need 3 devices that duplicate the same functionality in different forms. i'd rather have devices that are exceptional at their specific designated purpose. the funny part is that at least with 8, they can make substantial changes. with the x1 they are stuck with it for 10 years. this should be interesting, lol.

also i don't know how you can hate on the ps ui. yeah it's not perfect, but at least it's not an obnoxious ad fest

I buy consoles for gaming and only gaming. Got a PC for everything else (and gaming as well).

See how easy that is? You go on and on about how much better X1 is because of the "features" and then when you need better graphics you say, oh I can use a PC. Well, everyone can use a PC for all of those special X1 features, too!
