it would take a 760 prolly over 1300 on the core to match it. it might qualify a suicide run.

Its not oc'd to 7970 GHz speeds, its at 933mhz, basically a boost edition 7950 with 8mhz higher core clock.

what? that was my 7950 that i oc'ed to 1100, which i estimated to be as fast as a 7970GHz. i got a bad clocker and will only go 1250 in some benches.

Oh my bad, apologies I thought you meant the 280, it looked like a direct reply to Aesthetics questioning of the rebrand's performance boost.
Yeah that sounds about right btw, should be as fast I think, they might have been a little slower than their nvidia counterparts (670, 680) but they did have a crazy OC headroom which could put them ontop, possibly one of the best overclocking cards to be released.

Boost bodels are much harder to undervolt as they often come with locked voltage (and set to 1.25V) and you can only try with Video BIOS editor 7 do manually edit BIOS voltage settings.

As for hashing, HD7950 top out ~ 700 khash/s overclocked above 1100MHz core and then they use a massive amount of power.

From my testing in mining a HD7950 @ 1100/1575 with 1.050V (which is a massive undervolt) uses ~ 230W of power.

That's why I mine @ 925/1575Mhz , undervolted to 0.938V and get 570 khash/s with 165W power draw on Asus HD7950 DC2 TOP V2 card (900/1250MHz stock, 1.094V)

I expect price poping over 320$ within a week on these R9 280 cards. biggrin.gif

CHEERS..

7950s can pull 750 with the modded bios my 7970s both run the modded bios with memory timings fixed and i can get 850 out of them but im running 1100/1650 and 1165/1650 for total of 1.61MHash under water.

Are we there yet? Is 280 released yet?

It says it's out by the end of this week and no sign of it so far (in Canada).

Same here in the States. Listings seem to be popping up for European e-tailers, like AlphaC posted, but nothing elsewhere yet.

Edit: removed offensive European comment.

Dang, looks they're coming coming out of the gate at ridiculous pricing. I was hoping we'd catch a small break of a few hours at least lol.
