BSOD on Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z Z68 with new ram

Thread Starter
Hi OCN

Recently decided to buy a 2x4GB 1866 1.5V kit of Corsair Dominator Platinums, but after about a week I decided to return them in favor of the 2x8GB 1866 1.5V variety. The 8GB was manufactured by Samsung, and showed the correct XMP in bios of 1866. The 16GB kit was manufactured by Micron and shows an incorrect XMP of 1777 in bios. Because of this, I run them at XMP, but manually choose 1866 in the bios.

Ever since I've been using the 16GB kit I've been getting random BSODs of "System Service Exception" and "Page fault in non-paged area". Admittedly, I'm not a bios setting master, nor are the Dominator Platinums officially supported by my motherboard... However, I'm wondering if this is simply a bios setting problem, i.e. I need to increase voltage somewhere, or if the ram was improperly coded to be 1777 XMP. I'm a little frustrated and want to get to the bottom of my BSODs. So far they have occurred when alt-tabbing or exiting a game.

Thanks in advance,
leighteam

Avoid XMP. Check the timings. Enter the correct ones manually and increase the Channel A & B (or memory) voltage to 1.55v.
