Getting a bootable windows 7 pro

Thread Starter
So, my new pc doesnt have an OS and I will be getting windows 7 pro for it.
My school gives me a free product key, but not disc for the image installation. (i think its called image?)

So someone offered to burn the windows 7 pro for me so i can just stick into my optical drive on my PC and install the OS, and then enter my product key i got from my school.

My question is:

How can i know if he did the burning process correctly? (i think its called "bootable full ISO windows 7 pro dvd" right??)
also, I can i make sure he got the full ISO file and that this disc will act the same way as if i bought the OEM windows 7 pro?

I dont want to stick this into my PC and end up having issues becauase the file burning to dvd was messed up.

It will either work or not work. If they know what they are doing, most ISOs are direct to burn ready to go. You won't mess up your computer just putting it in and trying to use it especially since you don't already have an OS wink.gif.

The more important issues is it clean? Or did he or someone else stick a virus/keylogger/malware inside the OS? You can't trust shady sites like Pirate Bay without taking a risk. Where did the ISO come from?

If it was not installed correctly it's not going to work. You can make your own bootable usb if you want to make sure it's done right.

Download the Windows 7 Pro .iso
Grab whatever Win 7 pro iso you want to use from here:
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/

Here is the English 64 bit
http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24281.iso

Install that iso on a USB stick. Use an 8 gig and you'll be okay. Download the windows 7 usb/dvd creator from here
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Run that .exe and follow the instructions (it will take about 7-10 minutes to burn the image on your USB stick). You can reuse the USB again if you reformat it.

Boot from the USB in the bios or select it from the boot menu and away you go.

do you not have a computer at all?

there are genuine download links for windows 7, and you can even use a USB stick to install it.

EDIT: DKLIC6 you beat me to it lol. on a side note, USB installs a heck of a lot faster then the DVD would.

^^^ I'll take a USB install over the DVD anyday. I have a keyring that I keep around that has Windows .isos and linux recovery tools. Makes life easy.

Im not confident that i wont mess up on it.
