[PCGamer] Gabe Newell's AMA: Steam to become a "self-publishing system," CS:GO coming to Linux - Page 2

steam is a marketplace. if you were going there with the expectation that every product on there was a high quality game, you were doing it wrong

it really should be like Amazon or Netflix. there will be bad prodcuts and good products. people need to keep working on how to connect customers with the products they want.

it's actually a really big problem for gaming because the products are extremely diverse and people have different tastes

Well, I'm dumb, sorry, I just skipped the article and went to browsing through the AMA proper.

Who cares? It's not like there would be less "real" games on steam.

I was pretty excited about the Steambox and the future of gaming through Gabe's unique vision, but after all this time, and nothing to show for it other than a vanilla OS and some mediocre performance improvements on old games, how the hell is that supposed to be better than the plethora of substantiated platforms with new games and cool features already on the market? 2cents.gif

it's just a way of pushing linux basically and encouraging devs to port. it's a good thing, even if it takes awhile to get off the ground or even if it's mostly utilized by people using other versions of linux. what, you thought there was going to be some magic bullet and everyone was going to start porting and making everything for linux the next day?
