On the hunt for a new headset! Request opinions!

Hi!

I'm on a hunt for a new gaming headset! Some advice would be very appreciated!

I'm looking to spend less than $100 for a headset. I've seen couple headsets around other websites + Amazon. However, I can't decide which one to get. (Sorry, I'm very picky.)

So far, I'm looking at Steelseries and Plantronic headsets. Those seems to be very nice and comfortable. Some says Kraken is pretty good but I just don't like how the headset is made. Turtlebeach are nice also. I'm actually using a Earforce X11 at the moment but the sound quality blows. I've also heard Turtlebeach are very fragile and break easily which makes me reconsider my choices on them.

In any case, experiences of headsets that you own at the budget of $100 would be very very helpful!

Thank you very much, OCers!

I personally use the Plantronic gamecom 780's, I have a review of them if you click "reviews" next to my name.

are you willing to consider headphones + clip on mic

several years ago I walked away from headsets in favor of headphones + mic

if open headphones would work (open leak sound in and out... so not suitable in loud rooms or where others will be present generally).

these are actually very good for the money (I own a pair of these ) they are best with slightly larger head size however but there is a simple mod (look on headfi) to adjust the headband for smaller heads.

Op, do you want something "fun" or "accurate"? i also recommend getting a nice set of stereo headphones and a separate mic.
