So i delidded my i5 3570k becuase i wanted a 5ghz clock with a new waterloop im making. what i did was i removed the retaining braket aswell and tried to direct mount the cpu to my cooler. well it will turn on but it wont post if i believe thats the term its called. IT basically just keeps turning off. SO i put the heta spreader back on and it fires up and overclocks again. So whenever the heatspreader/pressure spreader is off i think its not contacting the socket evenly. Im using a artic cooling 5 rev heatsink. I plan on getting a ek waterblock with the kit for delid. But how can i make sure the pressure is applied enough to make the cpu turn on?

You could put some washers to the mounting screws. Well, that's what I did with my Noctua NH-U12P on my delidded Llano...

... Or you could put a thin slice of eraser on the corners of your delidded chip to help distribute the pressure.

Is this problem happen to everybody that delids and direct mount? what i did was put a penny underneath the mounting bracket so that it spaces it out more. The issue seems to be since its only pressing the middle of the cpu pcb down to the socket, the spreaer evenlly applied force to the entire pcb. So ill try the eraser part
thanks
