AHCI corruption and smart status failure

Thread Starter
A month or so ago some external forces, made me invest in a new motherboard for which I bought the p8z77 lx and after noticing the ahci selection under the hdd configuration, I decided to do a little bit of research and figured I would give it a try...
It installed windows 7 64 fine but after time (a week or so) some files would slowly start to get corrupted and bad blocks appearing to the point of reinstalling windows and all the updates multiple times but when I got around to installing bigger files like eve online and bf4, the smart status would crap out on speedfan giving me red and 0 on all the readouts, which led me to believe the hdd was failing as I also had a failure on one of my post saying one of my hdd was dead but after some off time, it was back to 100%. So I then installed the os on another hdd and again it would do the same thing on big installs which did this on every one of my 3 hdd's to the point of investing in a new hdd, where I might add, had the exact same symptons.
I then double checked all cables and bios settings, where I decided to set the hdd back to IDE and everything is back to normal but why was it showing them symptons ?, was there a driver I missed or is the hdd just not compatible with ahci, maybe even corrupted ahci controllers ?
After the successful run in IDE, I decided I would give raid 0 a go where I have been since yesterday but that corruption in ahci mode has me baffled for weeks.

Did you install the latest AHCI driver from Intel?

Hmm when I received the motherboard, the bios was up to date so I presumed the controllers where aswell. I had a look on intel website for ahci drivers but theres so many, I didn't know which one to install the same with the raid 0 controller drivers :s

You could get the one form your motherboard's download page ay the Asus website. While not likely to be the newest, it will work fine.

So no one knows what could be the cause of my data being corrupted and smart status crapping out when in ahci mode ?
