Adhesive Thermal Compound/Tape?

Thread Starter
Going to say right off the bat this is not intended for use in my PC but I want to securely attach a Peltier device to a heatsink using something thermally conductive. Will normal thermal paste harden enough to keep the device attached or will I have to use some kind of tape? If so what do you guys recommend? Thanks!

actually newegg has 5gram for the same price as well. you can get 2x 5 gram kits for the price of 1x 7 gram kit.

I use the stuff on Motherboard VRMs all the time.

I also found some "Arctic Alumna" on amazon which looks to be a knockoff for cheap too.

BTW how permanent is this stuff? My application may require removal of dead peltiers at some point due to the way I am using them.

Thermal paste has much better transfer than thermal tape, but it is semi-permanent. Removing the peltier again can require heating or extreme cooling & being careful when prying.
I've only used ln2 to separate thermal glued heatsinks from memory, the corsair sticks that are glued where you sometimes see posts of the bare memory PCB with the ICs all stuck to the heatspreaders after pulling them? 1 minute dunked in a thermos of ln2 & they practically fall off.
Other have used heatguns to heat it up & carefully pried heatsinks off successfully.

he is right the epoxy ESPECIALLY when mixed right doesn't want to come off unless you get it really hot or really cold. i user a soldering iron or the freezer, though rarely do i want to removed something.

I once glued an aluminum CPU heat sink to an X1550. biggrin.giftongue.giflaughingsmiley.gif to bad it started artifacting really bad after that, never did get off haven't messed with that card in ages. laughingsmiley.gif
