Lol. 1.4Mbps sweeeet. I can downloads all my stuff instantly!
Well we ended up going back to DSL. Somehow they undid whatever comcast did pretty easily. Also did some more research and found out why cable is bad. Correction.... Cable from Comcast in my area is bad. Im sure there are great cable providers out there but comcast, at least here in MD where I live is atrocious. Now I know why my old DSL was so reliable, since it's pretty much a private connection unlike cable which is shared and almost guaranteed to be overloaded with accounts in my area. For now we have .70Mbps but we'll be upgrading that.
The funny thing is that I think I know why my dad switched. See, he goes through about 2 laptops a year (not exaggerating). Because he doesn't know how to properly maintain them and how to prevent them from getting gunked up in the first place. So when one starts taking too long on boot and too long to load programs he gets rid of it. Sometimes he'll ask me to clean it but not often. He just attempted to buy 4GB of ram for his 2 month old laptop because he wanted it to go fast. Ended up buying the wrong kind and then bought the right kind but it didn't work and I couldn't figure it out. Then I told him that anything above 4GB is excess if you're just gonna be on the browser and using word processors and watching vids. So he said screw it and that's when i believe he got it into his head that a faster internet would make his computer fast.
Or at least I think that's it. Because he's incredibly finnicky with stuff like this. We have gone back and forth between Direct TV and Dish maybe 8 times in the last 8 years. It's kind of cool though to see how much both providers have evolved over the years. At first Dish was awesome, then it turned to crap and Direct TV was awesome. A year and a half ago we went back to Direct tv and it sucked all the way up to about 6 months ago when we switched to Dish again. Currently Dish>Direct Tv
