We have been speculating that since before it was even confirmed . we assumed that mantle would force MS to overhaul and tjat it would be 8.1/9 only. You are also the 15th person to say it in this thread... So closer to heard it here 100th.

it's not really a big deal though because you can almost always get the new operating system for $20 for the first month it is out. It's how I got three windows 8 keys and win 7 keys. Part if choosing PC over console is to not be stuck on ancient hard/software

LOL again, because clearly someone urinated in thy oat-ring cereal.

I am sure that there will be more systems compatible with Mantle than there will be DirectX 12 compatible devices thanks to the lack of support for Windows 7... At least in the foreseeable future. lmaosmiley.gif

Agreed. Since most people hate windows 8 (Not me though I love it) I think we'll see all the windows 7 users jump to windows 9 or at least try it. Plus with windows releasing a good os every other release and the bad feedback from windows 8, I'm banking on an amazing OS coming in 2015 with DX12.

Eh the large % of win8 haters are bandwagon folk. Or havent used it since launch. I'll take better perfoance which ever wsy I have to. Dual boot exists for a reason.

I have a feeling that quite a few used it once and made a snap decision.

I've used 8 (and 8.1) since they've been released, great OS from where I sit, just takes a little adjustment and to relearn a couple of elements.

Because of XB360 and last gen consoles.

Now that we finally have a new baseline set, you definitely see DX9 go away, in fact you are already starting to see more games use 64bit extensions, a direct result of the new consoles.

Not to derail, but I still see WIn7 sales even today including OEM.... I also work in corporate world where Win7 is supported through 2020 IIRC...

As a matter of FACT my company just purchased enterprise licences to install Win7 for 50k people. Dead indeed. XP being dead...yeah wink.gif

Ummm .... If you follow the yellow brick road it's every other Windows that peeps enjoy. So ya ... no Win 8.1 for this guy. Waiting for 9. thumb.gif
