Thanks!
That's what I was hoping to find: one of those full coverage EK blocks. I actually bought one a long time ago in anticipation for an SR2 build but I was a poor college student at that time and sold it T_T

Well, put the machine together today to start doing some proper testing and found out that one of the DIMM slots is dead. Won't detect any RAM I give it. Seems like the other slots are ok. Going to do some proper testing on that once I git the last batch done...but man that perturbs me x.x

I can return the board...but good luck to me trying to find another one at that price T_T

I'd also like to recap something that gave me a particularly hard time in case anyone runs into this at some point:

It is, as many many people have said before, almost ALWAYS best to do a clean OS install when building a new rig, even if you're porting certain parts over!

Win8 was not showing the full 12 cores, 24 threads from both Xeons. It kept showing 1 socket, 4 cores, 8 threads. I kept digging and digging, disabling CPUs using the on-board jumpers, verifying in the BIOS that they showed up, etc etc.

Turns out, because I did a straight port over to this machine (SSD w/ Win8 installed on it) it was still assuming I had the 3770k. It was treating BOTH Xeons as a single 4 core, 8 thread CPU. It was doing this because I had gone into msconfig and told windows to boot up using 8 cores, the max from my old 3770K.

It took me 2 hours to find that! >.<<br />
So now, after a lovely reboot, Win8 is picking up all 12 cores, 24 threads, both sockets, and all is well! I'll post some benchmark pictures here shortly!

Mainly looking for suggestions / feedback about these parts. Monsoon fittings appear to be non-existent in matte black 1/2" x 5/8" T_T

If I read EK's website that 780 Ti block should be compatible with the titan...which is strange to me, but eh. I'll also look to buy a backplate for it as well

For now, though, I need to go convince my wallet that all will be well...tongue.gif

I'd go with BP Multi-Link or Multi-Link Enhance. Not a fan of any of the other acrylic fittings from Monsoon, Primochill, or EK. Just a heads up in case you didn't realize it, but BP multi-links are only compatible with 12mm OD tubing, so 1/2" tubing won't work (it's 12.75mm OD.) Wasn't sure if you knew it or not since you had BP fittings in your cart with 1/2x3/8" tubing.

Oh snap, I didn't realize that! That's why I posted before I purchased xD Thanks for the heads up!

So I got the shipment in today and I have to say...I'm not really impressed with these blocks right off the bat. The build quality seems a bit lacking and the blocks themselves are quite thin for what I was expecting having previously owned the EK blocks. But we'll see once I get a proper loop going.

I need to do quite a bit of tweaking this weekend because the Xeons are sitting at 3.0 GHz right now with load temps around 50* C. I want to get that GHz number as high as possible before I throw in the water just to see what I can expect as a starting point tongue.gif

Cheers!

Alright, here are a couple of snaps from a couple benchmarks I ran today after tuning the Xeons. Currently I have the following settings:

CPU Freq: 180
CPU Multiplier: 20
QPI Freq: 4.8
Mem. Frequency: DDR-1333
Uncore Multiplier: 12

Voltage Settings:
Without Vdroop on both CPUs
Vcore: 1.300v
Vtt: 1.35v
IOH: 1.40v
DIMMs: 1.65v
Timings: 9-9-9-24

Hyperthreading: ON
Turbo: OFF
C-states: ON

Sits at 3.60 GHz under load at ~ 85* C average. I hate seeing those numbers but I'm expecting a nice drop when watercooled.

Pics:

Prime95 Quick Run: (tested stable - 1 hr - forgot to screenshot)

3DMark:

Catzilla (because I love this benchmark xD) :

Unigen Heaven for some reason wouldn't let me take a screenshot T_T

Unigen Valley:

Anybody remember Unigen Tropics/Sanctuary? biggrin.gif

Will be really interested to see where these numbers go when I start watercooling and overclocking then. Can't wait!

I hope that they work out well for you in the end..What matters in the end are the cooling capabilities, right?
Nice benchmarks,by the way..It'll be very interesting to see how much higher you can go after the overclocking&water cooling is done thumb.gif

Exactly smile.gif If anything I'll plasti-dip them black ;D

Just for kicks (and because I was tearing down my old workstation) I replaced one of the heatsinks with my old H100i. This was the result: (bottom = h100i)

This bodes well for me I think ;D

I'll likely be gone for a few days after tonight. Lots of work to do T_T Just a heads up!
