[Forbes] 'Titanfall' Will Have A Season Pass, Paid And Free DLC - Page 10

Times have changed. Paid DLC is nothing new
is because people keep buying and supporting the model. I can almost guarantee they would stop doing it if it hurts their sales, but as long as people keep supporting it they will con tinue to rob people blindly.

Nothing against the game, but I am sick and tired of companies releasing half finished product or not 100% of intended content just to make people believe they are getting extra things just to make a quick buck.

Before in the old days they released 100% finished product and maybe 2 years down the road they will have full expansion of things. now they always release 60-70% of game and try to make more profit with these lies of DLC and extra content.

shame on you guys for supporting this, as long as you guys blindly follow it they will never stop doing it. Your wallet speaks a lot of volume.

O rly?

What's your definition of finished?

Is it a product with 10 maps? 10 more in development for a later date?

People pay for DLC's because this argument/discussion is entirely subjective. It is 100% the opinion of the user.

If the game is finished like Bioshock Infinite and they want to add content, of course I'll pay for MORE CONTENT.

That doesn't mean the game wasn't finished in the first place.

Shame on you for pushing an agenda that's 100% based on the end user.

The dude is talking about Titanfall and other games like cod and bf not Bioshock Inifinite. Way to use Bioshock Infinite to push your own agenda.

The claim that a game isn't complete is your opinion and your opinion alone. What constitutes an incomplete game anyways? And I do speak with my wallet--If I don't want the content, I don't buy it. Simple as that. I doubt there's so few maps already in Titanfall's base game that you will have to buy the packs. The lot of you complaining about DLC like it's going to be the end of gaming need to lower the dramatic level a couple of notches. It's really not that serious.

i was in no way referring to bioshock infinite but in general greedy common practices. It is well known facts a lot of popular games in recent years have had controversies of releasing games with locked content and or unreleased portions of the games only to maximize profits by releasing it as extra content, before DLC started to be released within years of a games lifespan, but now they have "extra content" released during the first day the game itself sold to public.

not sure why you sound a bit mad/butthurt bro but I was talking about in general, and not to get into EA this or that but EA also known to follow these slime ball tactics for profit. The truth hurts i guess. Shame fellow OCN members are not smart enough to see through stuff like that. no offense to anyone.

The two things I hate most about dlc is the day one dlc and the general price.

Charging on day of release for maps that should be included with purchase of the game I mean come on, it's completely ridiculous.

Secondly the price of some of this utter trash is insane, it sometimes comes to more than the initial purchase price of the game all for a few packs of crappy maps and a handful of weapons. This has always dumbfounded me.

Maybe I'm just nitpicking but the model as a whole really nags me something serious.

Meh, the game was average at best. I cant see how you would want to go out and buy it after the beta, it became boring pretty quick.

The point still stands your simply ignoring it.

Why is titanfall not finished? And don't say because they are adding maps at a later date because that means any game that ever had and xpac or dlc is considered not finished.

Put a character on the disc and charging to unlock it is a joke, or having the maps on the disc. But having 10 maps, 3 classes, multiple weapons and unlocks, titans and different game modes is as complete as a multiplayer game will get. Why do you think they should continue to develop content for free for you. No other games ever really did it. One or two companies did shady things with Day one DLC and now the entire name is tarnished because people refuse to just think logically.

Well the beta only had 2 maps and 3 game types .....

I'd have to ask that question too, in your eyes, what makes a game incomplete? Because the developer has things planned for release as download content after the main game has shipped? With that thought of mind, games would become stale after a certain amount of time. I don't have nearly 400 hours playing Borderlands 2 for no reason. Bought the season pass, received 4 great full content DLCs, plus a bunch of other stuff that I was not expecting to come with the season pass.

Titanfall is nowhere close to being "half baked" as some of you think it is compared to, let's say Battlefield 4. Respawn has been working on Titanfall for almost 4 years now, since Jason West and Vince Zampella left Infinity Ward. The beta ran, for the most part, flawless. Yes, there was a few issues here and there, including a server outage, but that was fixed and they extended the beta for another day. Not to mention how willing the devs were to answer question via Twitter. Vince Zampella is probably one of the few studio leads that has done something like that, with one of the only other one I can think of is Randy Pitchford.

For a game that's going to be getting 10 maps with 5 game modes and a multiplayer campaign, that's quite a lot more than some other multiplayer only games that have been released recently. I also had some of the most fun I've had with a multiplayer game in ages. Pretty sure I logged a good 30 hours or more on the beta with my friends. Also because I played it with a group of people, it became more fun for me. Playing it by myself with a bunch of pubbers, that's where I found it boring with no team game play. I'm not trying to force the game onto people, but some of the comments I've seen, this is a good time for "you can't judge a book by its cover." Just because you see that "EA" logo on there, doesn't mean it's going to be the "typical EA game."

I've grown up with PC gaming, starting with Myst back when it was included with our Gateway computer in the early 90's, so yes, I also miss the days where "extra content" was added for free, but I know for a fact, additional paid content is not going anywhere. Yes, you can speak with your wallet, but you're just a tiny, tiny fraction of the whole and more than likely not going to make a difference unless it's a constant stream of the same crap. So what a few things are not ready for release? There are such things as deadlines and they'd rather have a fully working game that's missing a feature or two, then continue working on those features and adding them later FOR FREE. You'd be shocked on some of things I've learned that have been cut from some games that will never see the light of day because of deadlines. Would I loved it if those things made it into the final game, for sure, but since that's not what the final product came to be, I live with it.

Games like Battlefield and Call of Duty, I've already spoken with my wallet. I didn't buy Premium for BF4 and I haven't bought a single Call of Duty game since Black Ops. Obviously I'm not the only one that has "seen the light" and the numbers show that, but yet they're still making them. Until there's at least a good chunk of sales drop, they'll keep coming until they wrung out the series like what Activision has done with Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero series. If you're going to hate Titanfall and you haven't played the full game, then comparing it the "standard EA game," just means that there will be one less spot taken on the server for those that want to play and support Respawn's debut game.

Whew... Time to lower my blood pressure. Just makes me angry seeing some of the fact-less complaining and bickering.
