WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR help (thermal issues?)

Thread Starter
So I got a bluecreen twice playing warframe and the message read WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Now I did some digging and saw it was hardware fail error. The first time I got it I ignored it, booted it back up and started gaming again. Then it happened again. So I have no clue what the issue is. First I thought it was an HDD problem, but then I tried to run a chkdsk and before running it said the drive is fine.

My temps look ok, according to HW monitor. CPU core 0 to 3 reads 85, 81, 83, 82. But the general readout for CPU is 69. Which is pretty high considering I have a corsair H70 (I believe). Now I'm still running warframe in the background and I am getting these temps.

Other temps (SpeedFan 4.49): GPU 40, Temp1 69, temp2 52, temp3 31, HD0 30, HD1 31, HD2 31.

HW mon shows some other temps which I don't understand: THRM 68, CPU 68, VREG 51, System 30.
Fans: CPU 1730-1750, JPPWR used to jump from 600-2800. Now it's stabilized at 1000-1060, JCHA 712-750.

For reference it's 25 degrees outside and my window is open, the tower is sitting under the window.

So what is the problem? The reoccurring BSOD, the weird fan speed of JPPWR? Could my psu be going bad? Is it the board? Is it the HDD? Is it the corsair cooler?

System specs:
Windows 8 pro
GTX660TI
i7-930 (oc to 3.14, 2.8 stock)
16GB Corsair vengeance (slight oc to around 1800)
EVGA x58 SLI
all WD barracudas at 7200rpm
HAF 922M
PSU is a 750W TigerPower (I can't remeber)

The PSU is the oldest part of my PC build, next to the HDDs.

Hope I'm not in the wrong section, I'm new to the forums and it's kinda confusing.

Hi.

Revert to stock to do your troubleshooting. For starters, are the C states disabled in BIOS? If not, disable.

I have no idea. The bios is absolute garbage. So I'm not really sure where any fo that is. The overclock has been stable for a long time, I've had that overclock since day one of using the i7-930, with the same board.

^ this +1

I had the same issue with previous unstable OC profiles

If it works fine on stock settings, then at least you know it's the OC

I missed the temps part. Your CPU is overheating. Reapply thermal paste. Core temps should be kept below 75, better if below 60. BTW, CPU temp (69) refers to the socket temp.

@BlockLike The overclock has been stable since 2011. Could an ocerclock degrade in stability over time?

@Grmadness could that mean that my corsair all in one is going bad or is it just old arctic silver? I haven't reseated in a few months. So socket temp is really high. Its usually at 51 or so with heavy load.

@shills I'll see if I can track down the picture of the psu, but this thing has been around since I built my first build from 2008. It powered a gtx 260 and a 660ti. But now its only powering a 660ti.

Thanks for the fast responses guys!

Ok, so I killed my overclock and reset bios to defaults, I reseated my cpu with the last bit of AS5 I had, temps have not gotten any better, they got worse.

socket is at 83 C, core0 98, core1 97, core2 97, core3 94.

The PSU is a Silencer, 750 EPS12V QUAD/BLACK

I've also noticed that my +12 is at 10.3V. VCC1.5 is at 1.31, VSB3V is at 3.36, Vcore is at .86V VRAM 2.05, VChipset is 1.4 and +5V is at 4.79.

Is it the CPU or is it the corsair cooler? The pump itself is on the CPU fan and regulated via bios at 100%. So the RPM is between 4300 and 4500, JPPWR (not sure what this is) is at 1600 RPM not leaving that range, and JCHA is at 700 being steady within 30 RPM. Any ideas?

I'm freaking out at these temps, don't want to do anything to kill my computer.

FOR REFRENCE:
My temps at their lowest were: GPU 34, T1 at 24, T2 at 37, T3 at 37, HD0 at 25, HD1 at 26, HD2 at 27. The T1 is the socket temp. This was with my overclock with outside temps around 20 degrees Farenheit. (ALL OTHER TEMPS ARE IN CELSIUS)

NOTE: ALL THESE TEMPS LISTED ARE NOT UNDER LOAD< THEY ARE JUST BOOTED UP!

hmmm... it sounds like one of the following, either:
(a) the cooler hasn't been reseated properly, given that the temps have immediately shot up a lot, or faulty cooler
(b) mobo or sensor fault
(c) cpu fault
(d) psu fault, but to be honest, given the symptoms might be unlikely but i can't be 100% sure

do you have a stock fan cooler to try out?

I'm afraid it's a case of process of elimination. Do you have any old parts or another PC you could swap parts out of to test?

It's totally the cooler. I did some testing and if I jiggle the h60 input from the radiator it cools down immediately.
