ok so i went and picked up one of my buddies computers that had 2x4gb corsair vengeance in it. I ran several test. First i tried each of my sticks in his rig in various configurations. I can confirm that 3 of my sticks of g.skill are dead. I ran one stick of mine(g.skill) and one of his (corsair) and it wouldn't boot with any of the suspected broken ones. I also tried just one of my sticks in his motherboard's recommend single stick slot. I tried every single configuration i could think of and it all points to 3 of the 4 sticks being out. So i know i only got one stick. So i moved onto my computer. I then ran several configurations with just his ram as well as his 2 with my one. I confirmed that none of the sticks will run on the right side. This mobo supports 8 dimms 4 on left 4 on right. I will explain the layout left to right. Left side is dimm a1 a2 b1 b2. Right side goes d2 d1 c2 c1. No matter if i used my one stick or one of his sticks bios would not post. Code 65 blue 53 black. D1 is the recommend slot for 1 dimm just FYI. So the whole right side doesn't work with either ram no matter what slot with 1 or 2 dimms. Now here is were it gets even more confusing. If i stick one of the bad sticks in, it kills the corresponding slot. Like say i put a bad stick in a1 slot a2 reads abnormal in bios. That guys with both types of ram. This is all very weird to me. I did just get this motherboard and am sending the asus rampage iv extreme out for rma on monday. My luck asus will reject my dam rma on the rampage tho.
I realize the one stick i have in isn't in the correct slot but that slot doesn't work. Also i have flashed bios to latest.
just found this as well.
I may need to RMA this motherboard.Edited by upload420 - 3/7/14 at 3:50pm
