If you don't mind, fine, but why tell other people that they shouldn't mind, either?

Because your keystrokes are falling upon blind eyes. I think this is the first time iv'e seen widespread unrest towards this practice. It is pretty obvious UBI has been doing damage control, which could possibly mean they will tone it down next time... The real question is why do they find it necessary to post process the living hell out of trailer footage? It seems like a self destructive practice, but I guess it is possible that the general consumer base is so ignorant to the facts that they don't notice the difference (assuming they even see the trailers) @ launch. I was always under the impression that we were being shown cut scenes/pre-rendered sequences not actual game play, but I don't spend allot of time reading the "game journalist" stories that accompany these videos.

So many factors play into this though. As of right now, for all we know the game could actually look this good on ultra settings via top of the line PC.

I think one of the reasons people are so outraged is that this was baked as "ZOMG LOOK @ WHAT NEXT GEN CAN DO!" then people realize that isn't actually the case, so they get pissed. (assuming that is actually what UBI told the world in 2012, like people keep saying they did)

Would you rather a game that looks like the trailers but only runs on a Quad-Titan setup at 20 fps?

You have to remember, the publishers are evil. Everything they do is to spite their customers. OK, being serious... You may actually be right to some extent, though the above states that this is a legitimate business practice called "slicing." They extract a sequence, then post process the living hell out of it. Final Fantasy cut scenes anyone?

You are correct, I just dont see a point in getting all pitchforks and torches over it...

-edit- and i just watched the story trailer and i dont see why everyone is complaining? it still looks very nice? its entirely possible thats the One/PS4 version and the PC version is getting better graphics options anyways

-edit 2- and i found this, Blame 360/PS3 maybe

http://gamingbolt.com/watch-dogs-graphics-likely-downgraded-due-to-current-gen-development-cliffy-b

edit 3-

AND THIS

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/watch-dogs-creative-director-pc-version-better-than-e3-2012-build-in-many-regards-ng-close-to-pc/
Quote:
Watch Dogs’ Creative Director Jonathan Morin has been discussing lately the differences between the PC and the next-gen version of Watch Dogs on Twitter. According to Jonathan, the PC version will feature higher resolution effects (lighting effects, rain simulation, depth of field, particles system) than its next-gen console counterpart.
Quote:
In addition, Jonathan claimed that the PC version looks stunning, that the trailer – and the hands-on event that took place last week – was on PS4, and that the PC version will be – in many regards – better than the E3 2012 build.
Quote:
Moreover, Jonathan admitted that the latest Story trailer was never meant to wow gamers with its visuals as there was no way to match what the PC could do.

“Trailer wasn’t a good GFX reference. E3 2012 was PC as we always said and E3 2013 is PS4 reference. Was always the case”

May, perhaps, or ... everything you're writing is speculation.

The facts are that Ubisoft has a habit of showing spectacular trailers and releasing subpar games.

Or a lot of people simply expect too much sometimes...

AC4 wasnt bad, I quite enjoyed my time in it and thought it was a very pretty game... and unlike some other large AAA franchises (Call of Duty...) at least AC has pushed graphics a bit...

-edit- and to be clear, I'm not saying that necessarily people are wrong here.. I am simply playing devils advocate and arguing the other side. I reserve my judgement for when I play the game, and if the game looks like poo then it does... But overall the game could still be great even if the graphics arent amazing or cutting edge....

As I said, Ubisoft admitted the trailer in question and the event were the PS4 version and the PC version is supposedly closer to what we saw back in 2012.. So everyone could be upset for nothing...

Is it expecting too much to expect a product of the quality that was delivered through seemingly game play footage? (E3 2012 PC, E3 2013 PS4)
It did not look like CGI, it was perceived to be and led those who witnessed it to believe it was actual gameplay footage, I think even Jimmy Fallon had a play-through of this game.

I'm still waiting to see new PC footage in hope that it is closer to E3 2012 quality, the gameplay looks solid so I may pick this up but I dont like the deceiving behavior, if it isn't closer to E3 2012 quality I'll have to think twice before purchasing it and supporting this deception.

I mean, Jimmy Fallon is practically playing it here with these visuals, some takes on the recent trailer claim that the lighting was poor or it was shoddily displayed, or it was the wrong build, I'm waiting for the PC footage before taking up my pitchfork.

Yeah see the thing i posted where they said that trailer 1. wasnt to demonstrate graphics quality, and 2. was on the PS4 and the PC version is as good as what was shown at E3, possibly -better-

Actually truth of the matter is Ubi is probubly showing the console version off in trailers specifically to prevent the cries of sue sue sue or "THIS LOOKS NOTHING LIKE WHAT I SAW ON TV" because if what was stated above is true, then the PC version is going to look a LOT better than the console versions, the console versions are the versions that sell in the higher numbers usually and are the versions I'd say most people who see an advert on TV are going to reach for. Theres also the case that they did research on the "average" gaming PC and that could be what its going to look like on the average gaming PC as well, with only the folks with quite potent rigs able to really max out the visual fidelity.

And I gotta say in that video it looks great but there seems to be something freaky to me with the DoF effects, Things frequently DO look blurry in it... Like haze or something.. and im not sure if its an -artistic- choice or what

Which again if there are complaints the PS4 version looks worse it could be they dialed things back to achieve a solid 60fps framerate... At first maybe they werent shooting for 60fps (30-45 instead) but then decided to go for fluidity and 60fps over absolute quality. They may have thought they could iron out the framerates while keeping visual fidelity higher and simply couldnt do it...

It definitely isn't as shiny as the the E3 trailers, but it is definitely above the "smoking gun" footage.

"november 19th release date"

I did see some texture pop in, and some stutter, but that makes sense since it is a build from before the delay.
