i'll summorize, it's going to look really good on PC, and actually use the full grunt of your CPU @ any core count. I would wager to bet this engine is derived from the Dunia engine, which was derived from Cryengine. It should be quite shiny on PC.

If it does, I'm glad I bought the 4930k! But I always thought newer games would start to utilize the extra cores more and more often.

It's one thing to be disappointed the graphics don't live up to the hype, but there are always reasons. They may not be good reasons, or reasons we'd like to accept, but give it 6 months and if the graphics are that bad at release there will probably be a texture pack update or community pack displeased fans put out. Graphics don't make the game people... Doesn't anyone remember the pre-cd era? Sega, SNES, NES, etc? ... rolleyes.gif

If they had originally advertised the game with great gameplay and mediocre graphics then no one would have cared. The problem is they originally advertised it was gorgeous graphics and have since neutered it. It's the bait and switch that has people PO'd.

How is expecting something to match the advertised claims, arrogant/entitled?

This. If anything, it is arrogant of the developers/publishers for thinking we wouldn't notice or care. I mean, pretty soon they may start using real people and scenery for their "gameplay" demos. I feel like they really think we are that stupid.

Expecting PS4 to look like the e3 trailer footage is just ignorant. Everything here is SOP for a cross platform reveal. I feel bad for anyone who expected the actual ps4 game play to look like the trailer footage. Judgment on PC graphics can't be passed yet as no one has seen it so saying they have been neutured is premature.

What I dont undersrand is why we don't see this reaction for every cross platform release. Every company does this for every game that comes out on both systems and PC.

Just go look at the bf4 trailers next to What it looks like on console.

All I can assume here is that most of you are going to be playing it on console and actually expexted it to look like the trailers.

Yeah, this has been happening for a long time. Maybe people have finally realized it and had enough. I only started to really pay attention after Far Cry 3. Now I cant help but notice all these little/big differences in games for various platforms.

Despite it going on for a long time still doesn't make it right or even legal. Need to get the supreme court in on this.tongue.gif

Did they say that initially? No.

Did they just let everyone assume the various platforms would look this way? Yes.

Any way you try to justify it, it is still misleading.

And while I still hope for a pc version that looks like the e3 2012 demo, I won't hold my breath. There just have been too many cases (Ubi among them) in the past that suggest my hopes will get a kick in the nuts.

Nope, they never specified either way from what I remember.

either way I try to break it down, it is definitely misleading. They exploit the ignorance of their fan base by supplying lacking information, in what appears to be an attempt to make people think PS4 would be capable of graphics that rival what the best computers can crank out.

My guess is that they showed us cinematic cut scene footage, which would fall in line with what they and others normally do at E3.

If people would do some reading up on the DISRUPT engine they would see that it is a brand new proprietary technology created by UBISOFT specifically for this title. Boasting easy modding, true multithreading, & high end visual fidelity. My guess is that it is derived from the FC3 engine (Dunia) which is an offshoot of Cryengine.

: The Disrupt engine uses an aggressively multithreaded renderer, running on fully deferred physically based rendering pipeline with some technological twists to allow for more advanced effects. We support hundreds of dynamic lights, dozens of high resolution shadow casters, dynamic environment reflections and global illumination in a fully dynamic time of day environment. Our setup also allows for screen space effects that are usually not compatible with deferred rendering such as skin subsurface scattering, anisotropic specular highlights and hair shading. We also combine several camera based and post-production post effects to add to the realism of the final scene.

i'll summorize, it's going to look really good on PC, and actually use the full grunt of your CPU @ any core count. I would wager to bet this engine is derived from the Dunia engine, which was derived from Cryengine. It should be quite shiny on PC.

If it's supposed to look this good on PC, they'll show it in a trailer before it comes out.

If they don't, this is just "blah blah" and the game will look just like the PS4 footage released early.
