opinions please.....

Well ive been saving up some money and realistically ill have round 2 grand max to spend on either upgrading my current setup or jumping ship over to intel.. what i would like as the title suggests is some opinions on what would be the better option.. my issue is that in the coming months i will be moving out with my girlfriend and i would like to have this rig done and last hopefully round 2-3 years before needing to replace. All i use my rig for is gaming thats it i just want the best price / performance ratio i can get but also last the longest. so here are my options..

#1 Upgrades
Amd FX-9590
4 TB seagate HDD
16 Kingston Hyper X beast RAM 2400 MHZ
2x AMD ASUS Radeon R9 290x DCU2 in Crossfire

Total:$1998.94

#2 Brand New Intel Rig
Core i7 4930k
Asus Rampage Black Edition
16 GB Gskill Sniper 2400Mhz Quad Channel
Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD
Win 8.1 OEM
Corsair Hydro h100i
( Id have to save up longer to afford GFX Cards with this Config)
Total: $1589.94

Again any sugestions will be greatly helpfull, the only thing stopping me from getting the intel rig is that im not sure if the total price with gfx cards will perform that much better than the AMD system to justify the price....

I would go for the Intel rig and drop the 4930k and opt for a 4570k instead. You're looking at quickly diminishing returns in regards to gaming once you get past the unlocked i5s. You'd probably save enough on the CPU/2011 mobo to pick up at least one 290x.

my question is do you think i will see that much of a difference in gaming the between the 4670k and the 9590 when in that price bracket i could afford to get both the r9 cards?

Yes. Neither of those processors are worth the cost for gaming, but there's definitely a gap in terms of single-threaded performance between the 4930k and the FX 9590.

EDIT:

I thought you said 4930k, whoops tongue.gif

In the few instances where the 9590 outperforms the 4670k, it's about a 5% difference *at the most*. And this is at stock speeds, where framerates are above 80 to begin with. More often than not, the i5 will be better. Throw a 400mhz OC on it and you've got some serious bang for your buck.

I would say go with the new intel build, with your current build you still have some money to spare and I don't think it would be hard for you to sell some of the old parts since you might not have a use for them.
I'd say get the 4930k build and it doesn't have to be nvidia (I'd still recommend 780ti over 290x) but you can do intel/amd too. Either way the Intel would be worth it for future proofing if you really want 2-3 years out of it. Doesn't really need to be 2400mhz memory. But that's what I got, lol

Might I add that if you don't have an SSD that it's a better choice for a good experience than a HDD. Bigger help than changing CPU's at this point in the game.

Op, You already have an 8350 under water and you want to upgrade to a 9590?
They are the exact same chip.

I was looking to upgrade to a Intel 4770k/MB from my current rig, but really don't see the need at this time since it runs great and does everything I need to do.

Sell the 7970's and pick up a 290x or 2 and a nice SSD

I'm planning on selling my 7950's and grab a 290/290x and leave it at that. I just can't justify dropping the cash to move to Intel at this time...

Good Luck

yeah, what ive been kicking around the last few days i just cant justify the cost difference by switching over to intel from my current rig the price vs performance for just using it soley for gaming does not make sense to me seeing as how in a good case scenario i will get maybe what 5-10 fps diff between AMD/Intel I just dont think its worth it, so id like to thank everyone who posted with advice , but im just going to upgrade my current rig with the 9590, 2x r9 290x in x-fire and let it ride for the next two years.... thanks again!!!
