Advice on hd 4000 graphics on these cpus...

Hi, im interested in a very portable tablet/computer and i might go with the surface pro 1 or surface pro 2 depending on the differences in the cpu power.

The surface pro 1 has an intel i5 3317u processor.

the surface pro 2 has an intel i5 4200u i believe.

Both have hd 4000 graphics.

I was wondering, does the surface pro 2 have enough power to justify the price difference?

The cpu is the only difference that i can see on the surface pro 2 than the first one.

I want to play games like batman origins, bf3/4, hearthstone or anything i could on a desktop if its capable on very low settings.

any advice appreciated.

The Pro 2 runs a full version of Windows 8.1 and has better performance and battery life. I'd say it's worth the extra cash but as for gaming I wouldn't bother. Integrated graphics aren't going to cut it if you plan to play BF4 and Batman Arkham Origins. You'll be lucky if you can pull off 25-30 FPS at low settings. The IGP tests on a lot of online reviews use the HD4000 on Intel "K" series processor so they have the extra CPU power to get more FPS. Considering this is mobile and the tablets are marketed towards students, artists, and business professionals it's not going to fair well on the gaming front. I'd avoid it if you plan to game.

well i have a gaming rig at home. I never had a tablet or a laptop because i never really trusted laptops.
I mainly want something i can take to work since i will be at a desk for 8 hours and half of that doing nothing.

so i want something very portable and that isn't necessarily a straight up tablet that can't do the main things a pc can. Especially x86 stuff.

i have no problem playing hearthstone to kill time. the RT surface and other tablets that run off the tablet processors like tegra or w/e can't download hearthstone i believe, let alone any other game on pc.

I want something discrete, doesnt take up that much space and can just whip out wherever and do normal pc stuff and obviously at least hearthstone since i've gotten addicted to that xD

are there any laptops you trust that are small and decently powerful? and reliable?

The only thing that comes to mind is the Razer Edge Pro. People still want small, light, and powerful portable systems for gaming but we're still not there yet.
