Hard Drive performance / allocation unit size (issues/games)

Recently formatted all of my drives so everything is nice and clean. I did a bit of reading on the 'correct' format to do, and came to the conclusion that NTFS with 64 kilobytes of Allocation Unit Size was the 'best' option for me. From my understanding, the larger the unit size, the less fragmented pieces you'll end up with, and a faster performance you'll gain (even if it's not noticeable, I thought I may as well try it out.)

So finished my install, put all of my data back on and away I went. Loaded up a game (Warframe) and occasionally it'll drop to 0 FPS and hang like that for a second or two. At times it will freeze 10 times in a minute, other times it won't happen for 10 minutes. It's rather frustrating and has even caused my games to completely crash. I've opened up, CoD4, Warframe, WoW, CSS, CSGO, GRID 2, and they all have the same issue. In the desktop area, I don't notice this freezing, it seems to only be in 3D applications like games.

Full specs are in my sig.

CPU: 3770k
GPU: 670GTX 4GB SC+
HDD: Seagate 2TB (two of them)
SSD: Samsung EVO 240GB
MOBO: Maximus V Gene
Sound: Essence STX
PSU: Strider 750w

Cooling is sufficient, and there are currently no overclocks or modified system files.

Fps drop and freezing sounds like maybe a driver issue. Try any other gfx drivers?

HDD wise, is the smart data good on the drives?

I'll give the drivers another go soon; as for the Smart Data, I'm not sure what that is sorry.

SMART is Self Monitoring And Reporting Technology. What it does it monitor all aspects of the drive and record any events and other data points to a log. Using a program like HD Tune (under health section) you can view this log. It is very handy for diagnosing a possible failing hard drive.

You could also grab Crystal Disk Info and post a screenshot here.

Oops, completely forgot about this thread. Uhm... Haven't really got an idea what all the information in Crystal Disk means, though I'm guessing the more "100's" the better? This afternoon I decided to overclock, and it's kinder eradicated the stuttering issue. Only problem now is finding that sweet spot in the vcore so it doesn't BSOD for any reason. Everything was completely on factory settings beforehand when the problem was occurring
