So the flagship 780 was $649. Then it was replaced by the flagship Ti which brings 15% more performance for $50 more.

If you do current pricing, msrp is $499 for 780 and $699 for 780 Ti.

Personally, the cards should have been priced at $499 when each was the flagship with the 780 dropping to $399 when the Ti debuted.

Not sure where you found this 5% figure but the 780 Ti outperforms the 780 by 15-20% roughly. I had two 780 and swapped them for two Ti and did all the tests myself in my system.

And 3gb of vram is enough for even 4k unless someone is using a lot of AA trying to create an artificial bottleneck with no gain in picture quality. In a multiple display setup, more vram is needed but for single displays, vram has become a marketing tool.
On various websites I found that the hardware is, on paper, 20-25% better, but it would get scores like 5-10% better in almost all the benchmarks.

It's existence is to counter the 290x so that nvidia can say they still offer the fastest gaming card.

the 780ti was the logical progression as both the titan and the 780 didn't have all the cores available. The 780 ti and titan black do.... makes sense to me!

what the heck is with GPU pricing now anyway? They are getting a little out of hand since the Titan and 780's release.

13% faster in Heaven and Metro despite the 780 having a 13 MHz clock advantage.

What about 780ti vs 780 under water?

My 780 Heaven is 70 fps and Firestrike score is 13200 at 1080p. Is the 780ti still 15-20% faster than that?

The core speeds for both cards in my test were within 13 MHz of each other.

So if the 780 was running 1359 MHz and the 780 Ti was running 1346 MHz, the same 13% gap would be present.

When I had my 780 Classified, my scores in Firestrike at 1385 MHz were equaled by my 780 Ti Classy at 1228 mhz.

And water effects both chips the same because they are both GK110 chips.
