So I should go after it and return the 270X?

Don't - I have the DD edition of the XFX 7950 - and that struggles to keep cool especially on the VRMs - the Core edition has an even worse cooler design. Stick with your 270X - it's a really solid card! thumb.gif

Oh ok, cool I figure I would keep it anyways. I got 5 games out of it. XD plus it seems to work just fine. Thanks for your input that helps me a lot. thumb.gif

Overall, the quality of your 270X is far above that of the XFX.

Just as a mini rant - XFX actually used their 7970 cards, locked or cut down to a 7950's specs upon launch. This meant alot of reviews were actually not half bad. The cooling isn't perfect, but my partner still has the 7970 version of the XFX 7950. (I can assure you with the size, weight, and the PCB that is definitely is a 7970)
I purchased 2 of these, as they looked very decent for their price; I mean, I saw the stay clear of XFX and such, but those first cards were awesome! Mine however, did run a lot hotter than my partners. It then went on to blow a capacitor.

All of the above was not an issue. I RMA'd the card, and awaited my new replacement like this: wheee.gif. When it arrived... I was more like this: thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif - turns out the replacement is a Rev 5.0 - this is not the same card I had before. Cheap PCB remakes of the 7950 - side by side with my partners card, it looks like someone sent me a toy!

So yeah, the new replacement card, clocks worse, coil wines & it hotter than the original.

On a lighter more positive note - their R9 series cards seem to have been much improved.
