But is there any indication that this game will have "a great story" or "good gameplay?"

I can see good gameplay, perhaps ... kind of subjective ... but there's no indication that there is a "great story" as far as I can see more than any other game... and throwing in words like "great story" and "good gameplay" when little to nothing is known about either just obfuscates the issue of Ubisoft presenting one thing at E3 and taking pre-orders and then releasing something much different. Not for the first time. Or the third time, or the tenth time.

Nothing set on stone, but I much rather have those two elements done right before amazing graphics.

What good are great graphics if the game is boring and doesn't run well?

Agreed. Although I have to admit, I don't like the fact that the previews they showed looked better than this current trailer. I think gameplay is more important, but I'm getting sick and tired of developers/companies showing potential customers one thing and we end up getting the other.

I don't put any one element (visuals/gameplay) ahead of the other. Is it too much to ask for, especially with it being a next-gen title, a great story alongside current graphics (not outdated like they appear to be)? Maybe you grew up in a different time and this generation is perhaps, more spoiled about how a game should look. I just cannot get immersed in a single player open world and supposedly story driven game that looks like crap by today's standards. So, even if it had a great story, I would not be playing it if it did end up looking like that on the pc. Maybe it's an OCD thing, but I wouldn't be able to get past how terrible it looks.

Looks orders of magnitude worse than what they showed last year. And those that say, "but... but... gameplay"

come on, son.

This is ubisoft we are talking about, they specialize in making repetitive collectathon open world games (assassins creed, farcry3, anyone?). There will be one million and one things to collect, and the same 2 or 3 mechanics used over and over ad nauseum. Usually the main thing they have going for them is they are pretty to look at , at the same time.

You can bet they are visually the way they are due to the xbox one.

There, is that better than my funny pic i made that you decided to delete? I spent so much time on that too!

As if that has anything to do with the false advertising Ubisoft engaged in by presenting a much better looking game at E3.

Further, who says the gameplay will be great because the graphics are not? What kind of reasoning is this? Those of you saying this may not be making that explicit claim, but the fact is the gameplay has nothing to do with graphics (and they certainly don't have an inverse relationship).

The best you should be saying is that while Ubisoft clearly misled gamers (again) and continue to do so in PR releases, at least the gameplay may be better than the graphics ... but to start talking about how "the best games of the 90s were about STORY" and somehow relating that to this game is ridiculous.
Agreed.

LOL I cancelled my preorder for this game went it got delayed because I put it in something else. Will not preorder the game and if ships at this quality I won't be buying it. I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in ages and it seems like I won't still. Their games are terrible now. Miss the old Ubisoft. What a major disappointment after waiting for so long. Hope it burn them good.

The first shots of games are usually pre rendered, doctored or running on a top of the line PC for demo purposes.

Most understand this by now but that doesn't make it any less misleading and just because it's been done regularly by game developers for a long time does not make these tactics exempt of false advertising. Honestly, it is really pathetic on their part or they just take us for idiots. They really think we can't tell the difference or that they can do this and no one will say anything?

Well its pretty rare to see render targets passed off as real time game play graphics but yeah even that has happened a few times over the years. But really there is nothing bad about running games on dev hardware as long as they are honest about it.

There would be far less outrage if devs/publishers where strait up and honest about all this. They had to cut back on the graphics for the consoles, case closed moving on. Instead they do all this PR bullcrap. Sadly there also seams to be an increasing trend to pull bait and switches. I blame pre orders for this at least in part. The temptation the be dishonest about the game is far greater when you try to get people to buy the game in advance. If everyone refused to pre order and only bought games after reviewers have gotten their hands on the retail version I think we have much less of thees issues.
