honestly, sounds like you have already sold yourself on the s5. I am a s3 user and love my phone but I am partial to android phones over apple due to how they are locked down. now this part is fine for some and I always recommend the end user get what they want/more comfortable using.

rooting methods can be easy and can be a nightmare depending if you read everything on that particular model and all the methods including how to unbrick in case things go awry.

I know this isn't of much help, but figured I would chime in my two cents.

I haven't noticed lag on Android in a long, long time. I had no lag on my old S2 or my cheap ZTE and my current Note 2, while not top of the line, is as smooth as it gets.

Android is really, really good nowadays. But if we're going to talk about rooted phones, it's only fair to compare them to jailbroken iPhones. I would never touch a stock iPhone, but a JB'ed one is awesome. The main reason I'm on Android is because the iPhones' screen is too small. If Apple came out with a 5"+ iPhone, I would be really tempted to switch back.

I had a galaxy nexus, and that thing was a lag bucket. 5s is much smoother and less laggy. If you want your phone to "just work" and work well for basic tasks and functions, stick with the iphone. If you want to use your phone like a power user, get an android phone. I also like the small form of the 5s compared to the bigger phones.

Right now its pretty close to when the next iphone information starts trickling down, I say wait for that. The 5 is still a powerful phone for the time being.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Looks like I'll be trying out the S5 when it comes out, and if I don't like it I'll sell it and snag up an iPhone 6 when they release later this year. I was looking at the Sony Z2 but I don't think it will be available for my carrier (Sprint). Once again, I appreciate everyone's help!

Definitely the Galaxy S5. IMO the stand-out features are the 16MP ISOCELL camera, 4K video recording and the new better polycarbonate design (goodbye glossy plastic).
