If you ran into someone with a Flak Cannon and you had the Enforcer, you couldn't do anything. Not to mention sniping in BF is absolutely terrible. At 50 feet away the bullet travels about 2 feet per second and has an arc like you are throwing a baseball, and you only get a one shot if you hit them in the head, which based on the netcode and hit detection in the game, is pretty much luck. I have had people laying down on top of a hill above me, all I could see is their head, and I would get a hit marker.

I have to agree that there is something off with sniper rifle ballistics in BF4. A 100 meter shots seems to take forever for the round to hit compared to shooting with a DMR and bullet hits instantly. Although, I have been able to get more head shots lately so I think the hit detection is getting better.

If haven't played the COD. I got bored with those awhile ago. I think BF4 has more variety in the possible game modes available since you can go from a CG style TDM or domination game on Zavod 311 with 64 players roaming between and under the buildings with a 12 guage. Or you can jump on pistols/knives only server and rank up fast. Then jump on a conquest large or rush map if I want to play around with some heavy equipment or take some 400 meter shots with a sniper rifle. Although, I would suggest hardcore matches if you are going to use a sniper rifle since it's much more likely to get one shot one kill.

CoD got boring years ago and BF4 is still a buggy mess moths after release- otherwise it could of been a decent casual game.

There aren't many people playing Ghosts online. It's not as good as previous Call of Duties.
BF4 will be played much longer online & it's a better game overall.

And everyone bought it like a kid in a candy store. If EA says it, it must be true!

The OP isn't looking for a competitive shooter thankfully. If he was, steer clear of Call of Duty and Battlefield. CS:GO and Insurgency are the way to go if you want a modern competitive twitch shooter.

I also don't find the visuals to be obsolete. It's one of the nicer looking UE3 games. Definitely not the best but I wouldn't call them obsolete.

I used it because it is what it is, territory is something between rush and conquest in BF terms and its the only true option - If you are bored of it at some point you have no alternative. Don't get me wrong. RO2/RS is a top notch pvp shooter (I gave it an 85% as a professional games journalist) , you can see the team behind it has knowledge and appetite and inspiration. For an UE3 game it looks nice, not amazing but nice it is. It still is obsolete though, from textures to animations exactly because UE3 is "ancient" now. It deserves a better engine. All in all I still think BF3/4 have the edge on RO2/RS though, the feeling of soldier motion that comes with BF is impeccable, everything else lacks in comparison.

Rising Storm has excellent animations and movement, it has the best first person animations I've ever seen and the latter isn't any worse than that of BF3 or BF4. It has the best movement of any realistic shooter in my opinion (and BF3/BF4 go for realistic movement as well). Textures are average. I advise taking a look at Thief before calling UE3 obsolete.

BF4.

Or Titanfall, it's a lot of fun.

I've been more of a fan of BF since BF:BC2, but was big into CoD4 for a long time. BF just feels more dynamic in comparison.

I took a look. Wasn't impressed and I wasn't impressed from Bioshock Infinite either and they both use heavily modified versions. As for RS, I know you hate BF but it isn't even a matter of opinion, RO2/RS has way inferior animations. It's not even close, hell, BF4 knifing animations are probably as many as RS weapon animations altogether combined or so. When it comes to soldier movement, there is nothing wrong with RO2/RS per se, they are in line with most shooters out there. It's just that BF4 is so much ahead (even BF3 was top there).
