ITX build, Corsair 250D - is there anything better?

Hello,

So I am finally putting together an ITX build. I've decided to put in Corsair Obsidian 250D.

Now, just to be sure - is there anything that is actually better for a gaming rig? And why?

Well it all comes down to what you like..An ITX build is an ITX build..It all depends on what you want to do with it..The 250D has the clean lines and obsidian look, but from what I can tell, the only WC option is an AIO,unless you feel like modding.Nevertheless I would still choose it over the BitFenix Prodigy which is another favorite mini ITX cases by the masses..As Linus' video suggests you can have a top-line gaming build inside the 250D.The Prodigy only beats it in terms of upgradability for the hardware(easier installation) and style(depending on your taste)..But I prefer the clean Obsidian look and the Corsair quality myself.. thumb.gif

depends on what you personally consider "better" there are 2 schools of thought when it comes to ITX or SFF in general. you have the max rig with a smaller case school which is where 250D falls under and that's generally for people who likes liquid cooling for their rig.

then you have the school of small case with max rig which the silverstone SG05 is the poster child for. the SG05 can fit a similar rig as you could with the D250 at maybe 2/3 the size. however you do take a hit on cooling performance so you wont be able to OC like you can with the D250

so what it really comes down to is what do you feel is "better"

Hi mate i think ill be able to close this thread with my post.

Ive myself built mini itx gaming rig and what i can say that 250d is simply the best choice.

Ive owned bitfenix prodigy case on the first. It's spacious, that i can tell about it but. This whole lot of space is a totall waste! I will put it as simply as i can. Bitfenix Prodigy... just dosen't feel like mini itx case, i bet after some modding you could put there m-atx mobo. Also the inner design is not as good as one could want. If you are going for non modular psu and pick prodigy... you are going to have a bad time. Been there done that. Holes for cables are too far from psu slot which results in psu begin fitted very poorly and looking crap. Another thing is additional shelf for hdds. If you are going to put there something like 770 you will have to throw it out to fit gpu. Another problem with bitfenix that i personally had were it's hdd/power leds. They are blue... BRIGHT blue which means if you dont hide ur pc under desk it will be bothersome to you, or at least it was for me.

Now let's say why i moved to Corsair 250d. It's smaller, finally feels like real itx gaming case. It might not have flashy look of bitfenix but im totally Okay with it, it rewards in other aspects. Corsair is small, yet it is very spacious for its size, i fit in gigabyte gtx 770 in there which is bloody big. Also fitted in front panel 220 mm fan and still got like 2-3 cm left between them. Another thing it got good vents. on the side panels you have big vents covered with filter net which you wont have in bitfenix. Same is with front, in 250d there is another filter net and under psu. Overall you get 3 vents for intake/outflow purposes that are secured with net. Bitfenix got only one net under psu slot so that's quite a hit. If you will plan on fitting in let's say h100i inside 250d, worry not. You just have to unmount dvd bay and you can easily fit it on side panel, moreover this side panel is designed to take 2x 120fans on it which means pretty much that you can mount there h100i too, here you have video of it:
