...stock bios. Wouldn't I need that 'special' MSI AB-X for LN2 bios ?

EDIT - card is out right now getting sized up for uni-block later, but ASIC was 75.5

2nd bios on card is "LN2" bios. Stock bios does not use all phases. 2nd bios uses full phase mode. If you take a look at the lights on the back of the card, you will notice they are not all lit up on stock bios. If you switch over to 2nd bios they all light up! Don't know if there are any other differences, ie memory timings, ect. or not.
Thanks for the confirmation on asic. Mine is at 70% and starts artifacting over 1225 with +100mv. Figured yours had to be a higher asic/ more efficient to get 1243 at +100mv. Did you notice any coil whine on valley credit screen? Anyone else?
EK has announced they will be making a block for this and should be coming in first half of April. No confirmed date as of yet.

..tx - I finally had a bit of time to read up about this card's 2ndary Bios, only having run it for a couple of ours so far, there's lots left to explore and learn, but that's the fun part biggrin.gif I do think I have a decent sample - though for me, the stock VRAM performance is a touch more important...5 % differential in ASIC can easily be overcome w/ a bit more voltage once this type of card is getting strong cooling.

I didn't notice any coil-whine and buzzing sound the one time I ran Valley (I have been lucky w/ my cards as of late on that) but the true test for me will be in 3d03 (first scene, near the end when that tri-legged capsule lands). Other GPUs I have (especially AMD) which normally don't have coil-whine do start to buzz a bit for a few seconds around there (mind you, w/ indicated fps of 5-8000 or more, it's no wonder)

Really looking forward to getting to know this 290X Lightning and make it give up its secrets smile.gif

Run a program like fraps and watch your FPS on that screen.  FPS shoots through the roof and makes it coil wine.  Both my 280x's coil wine at that screen cause of FPS.

Man, I really want to get a pair of these cards and blocks.  Wife won't approve of another pc upgrade sadsmiley.gif

Any of the goods cards I've had, don't whine, but may hum at those fps intensive screens. Totally different timber. True coil whine to me is a high pitched screech.

LN2 bios should be the same on all cards. Haven't heard of any alternative yet.
