You sure about that? Last time I checked EK's site (Granted, I was checking the 780ti Classy blocks), I'm quite sure they stated that their waterblocks couldn't be used together with the cards' backplates and that, if one wants a backplate, they should buy EK's backplates as an extra. Which seemed odd to me seeing as the holes on the PC are the same and all, but for some reason I took their words as gospel.

Uh yeah and I can only put Motorcraft Oil in my Ford. Not true. While you may need longer screws and some plastic washers, the same holes in the pcb are used for stock heatsink as well as a after market EK waterblock. Read around, it is done quite frequently.

Well, I've never done it myself, so I prefer not to conclude anything without first hand experience. Thanks anyway pal!

anyone else here who notice coil whine on their 290x lightning? I've seen a few so i'm wondering if it's just a few 'lucky' people or it's something common to 290x. thanks

Mine does coil whine when the FPS go through the roof while running the 3D mark suite.

Can't say about others.
