i mean that is what I always do as soon as I use my card, but really if your not being power throttled then it shouldn't make a huge difference at those clocks. it couldn't hurt to test it though.

are you overclocking the core and mem separately.

The +63 is the stock overclock from MSI I can get over 1550 mem all day with +63 so basically stock, my first card though was a lemon died after a month or two I was going for max oc on air 1.45v at 1190 and it couldn't even do that stable never got over 1200 stable, my mem on my first card though got 1600Mhz gaming all day max temp was same as you at 70-72c.
It didn't seem to make any difference on ln2 or standard bios. (I figured that it wouldn't matter)

My replacement rocks got 1200 core and 1650 mem with just +100 vcore I run 1150 and 1550 with stock +63 all day every day for a max temp of 60c with hair dryer at 88% on outside fans and middle default jumps to around 45%.

Oh and these cards seem to really hate high temps while overclocking as soon as mine goes near 70c from 60c with 1200 core with +100mv it starts to throw errors.

PS: NEEEEEDDDDDDDS WATER

1125/1325mhz with 50% power limit is stable in Unigine Valley and Heaven but not 3dmark Fire Strike.
To get it 100% stable in Fire Strike i need to back to 1100/1300mhz.

I know its a lottery..but 20mhz on the core and 50 mhz on memory...what do i do wrong here?

As i said before i read reviews where they atleast gets 1150 on core and alot on the memory..

Don't worry about the reviews...have you tried upping the voltage yet? give it a chance and overvolt it...see how far you could get @+100mv and 200mv. Mind the temperature pls wink.gif

that might be causing your instability issues smile.gif i never bothered using the primary bios, so i can't speak about it. Been on LN2 as soon as got my hands on the card

I booted with ln2 bios and when entered windows the screen started flickering with green colors all over, ***? I havent installed drivers on ln2 might be it dont know
post #926 of 2829
that's odd...well, you would have some oddities when something is wrong with the drivers, although i never had to reinstall when switching bios. It's worth a try my friend.

But I am hitting like 1350 core maybe even higher on water with this new card. I am doing some testing now and will post final clock in a little bit. might have a nice card here. as soon as I can show what the core can do on water I want to sell it. I want to bin a couple more kingpins.

Yikes.sadsmiley.gif
Did MSI accept the RMA on the 2nd or you had to get a new one.?
Would have been kind of hard to explain how the core got crushed. I don't think LN2 use is covered under warranty.

Good to hear that you have a nicer new Lightning.
If it really does clock High, then right now would be the right time to demonstrate the clocks & sell the card as people would be out looking for a High Clocking 290X Lightning to use in MSI MOA Class A.

Waiting for your results.thumb.gif

I've taken it as high as 1312 with std. +200mv. I've tried AB code hack and rbby tool, but start black screening with more than +200mv or 1.38v. I know there is more in the tank, but haven't tried anything else yet. I would love to try ABX, but seems everyone with a copy is keeping it under wraps. I've yet to see temps past 40* with the EK Lightning block. What are you using to overvolt andf what voltage are you pushing for 1350?

I don't think I have seen anyone in this thread who didn't make to 1200Mhz.
How did you kill the 2nd one.?
I know your PSU took out the 1st one.

Anyways, expect 1300Mhz on Water, that is where Hotrod717, GunSlinger & even 8Pack hit a wall I believe.
8Pack had 1320, I believe, the ones he used four quad fire FireStrike record.
This.

I honestly don't think over 200+ is necessary or would help for an air/water cooled card. I was running close to 1500 with +200 on ln2. It needed about +225 to finish and entire run of heaven at 1500 and a lot more voltage to get runs in at higher clocks. I really think the card just needs to be colder.

I've just been installing my new MSI LTNG and connected my DMM to the "GPU V" monitor point on the card. If I increase Vcore to +200mV with about 1220+ on the GPU clock using AB V3.01, the DMM shows about 1.38V when running a quick benchmark check.

I just need a heads up (Mikecdm?) that I've not mysteriously ticked some Vdroop cancel box without realising it and that this 1.38V under load is normal in AB?

Thanx
