Damage CPU by DOA/bent pins motherboard? Sabertooth z87/4770k

I tested it one time. Computer turned on and did not post just black screen. Fans did die down with cpu after a few seconds.
Tested board without cpu twice, once before and then after I fixed the two pins I found that where bad. The pins weren't touching anything, but they where just bent. Board seemed to be DOA at start.

Would this damage my 4770k?

New board just got shipped, I'll know for sure in a few days. I'm going to delid more than likely after I test to make sure everything works good.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt the cpu if not pins where touching. If so Amazon has a good return policy. Thanks GeneO

Already RMA'd it and the new board is on it's way. I did straighten out the pins with grounded tweezers/bobbypin and my flashlight, but it still didn't work so the board was DOA

Is why I posted that. Intel hasn't had pins on it since what, 478?

If the pins were bent when you removed the socket cover you should have requested an rma before installing your chip. You're lucky if they replace it. Most everyone refuses an rma due to bent pins. Having installed the cpu they can argue it's your fault.

this covers the socket on the motherboard to protect the pins while the board is in transit and before a cpu is installed.
