Rewritable iso?

One of my hdds is giving me trouble, and need to backup.
The idea was to have a Rewritable iso image that I can mount and then do the steam game backup (somehow burns to disks or other drives)
and then move the iso over to my file server, where I can mount it from there whenever I want, and do so with many other images, but have yet to find a Rewritable image?

Needs to be free XD
or maybe there is another solution, for what I need to do?
Tho no real disks, needs to be virtual.

The only thing needed to save the games is in the Steam folder a folder called SteamApps and the Steam.exe everything else you can delete

BUT your saves for each game can be found in many places sometimes in my documents or program files its a mixed bag. I am still trying to beat a few games that I get to certain points then do a reinstall for whatever reason and never get to finish I always forget about the saves.
