EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SLI/paired with 600 series will work?

You can see my system specs but I have a 8320 going at 4.8, on a asus 990fx pro rev 2 and 16gb ram. I have a 2GB 770 GTX, and my board allows up to 3 vid cards. Just pondering the idea of what adding another card will do for my system. I know it will need more juice so i'll prob have to upgrade my 880W PSU to a 1200W. Will I see any benefit in doing this.

I cannot afford another 770 GTX right now, thats why i'm asking about a 600 series card, are they compatible like that?

thanks.

I'm pretty sure (not certain) you can use a card from the 600 series for dedicated physx, but the performance gains wouldn't be worth it at all.

You cannot SLI a 770 card with a 6xx series card.

You can run them as two different video cards but only one will run games / affect performance.

You technically can get a GTX 680 and flash a GTX 770 BIOS on it, making the computer think the 680 is a 770 allowing you to SLI

But you can't do 770 with like 650 ti or 660 or anything if that's what you mean

interesting, I can flash a bios to it, i'll keep it in mind. It will be costly still, but if see a deal I may grab a 680 if i can afford it.

It should be noted that an 8320 will bottleneck the living hell out of two 770s unless I'm wrong (exceptions likely in AMD Gaming Evolved titles)

Edit: It actually shouldn't

Also, I can't find your motherboard with a quick google search can you link it, I'd like to see what PCI-E power it can feed 2 GPUs

Yep you should be good to go, basically runs the equivalent of PCIE 3.0 8x/8x which isn't an issue at all

Be aware that flashing a BIOS does not always work and you might run into compatibility issues, it isn't the best option but if it works then great - if not then you might be S.O.L.

a single 770 should be fine for 1080p anyways, which I assume you're running based off sig rig monitor

You should read the following threads as you can SLi cards from different generations its just not ideal.
I have not done this myself but TBH i would check this route out before flashing VGA bios, its gota be worth a shot? Let us know if you get it to work thumb.gif
