3 monitors on MSI Twin Frozr 760 2Gb

Thread Starter
So, I have a single MSI TF 760 2gb GPU.

and it can support the 3 monitors just fine from what i can see... but I am getting mixed answers about Nvidia surround... some telling me that i HAVE to have 3 identical monitors and model numbers? or can the 3 mixed/matched monitors i have run as 1? they are all the same size and already run at the same resolution... I have yet to unpack the 3rd monitor and set it up, as that requires me rearranging my desk, and I am too lazy to do so right this minute...

so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions? I'd appreciate them!

thanks

shoud be able to put anything on it. The problem is not that it won't work, but that it will look a bit off. every monitor projects light a bit differently, and if you don't match the monitors you wont get uniform brightness, size, or color. If you can deal with that though you're golden.

I got two non matching monitors, and even though they are the same size, I can't match the colors exactly. Works fine though. This is not an nvidia 760 thing btw, it's purely a monitor thing. True of all types of monitors. LCD LED, CRT, whatever.

I got it figured out.. no you don't need 3 of the same monitors to run 2D across 3 monitors.. but if you want to run 3D surround.. you need 3 of the same model number monitors..

the 3 that I have are close enough to the same size.. I have a 21" in the middle and two 20" one on either side of the 21"... they don't match exactly but its close enough ... eventually I will buy a few of the 27" monitors that are being made now that come without the thick border on the edge.. their borders are really thin, and almost non existent... 3 of those next to each other would look fantastic.. but for now I can live with what I have

Best to buy new ones all at the same time as well from the same place. Ideally you want the same screen lot and for them to age at the same rate

Cant even match same monitors here enough, dell U2312HM x2 and whites etc are pretty different.
one older U2311H on one side is way off... and even at 90% brightness is still darker than middle screen at 45% and other side at 50%, away from compter the color difference is pretty obvious too...

They need not to be same model, or even size, but same resolution, refresh rate
3D might require same monitors...
but yeah, its every way off with different sizes etc... before 2 new screens and gtx670 tried u2311H and two old CRT-s with gtx460, was little funny with very wide bezels etc, but got me to shop fast enough biggrin.gif

Good that u2312hm is pretty thin when debezeled, sits little on top of debezeled side screens so it leaves like 1,2-1,3cm wide bezel (that is including black area on lcd panel itself), without being too off in depth (under 1cm?).

I have mixed monitors,,i have a 27 inch asus in the middle and 2x 24 inch acers on the sides,,,it really works farely well,,the bezels match in the middle,,,its good enough for dirt3 and NFS games. i don't even relly notice when im playing,,i elevated my side monitors so the bezel matched without having to alter the resolution to match them up,,,bad thing is I will never go back to single monitor gaming,,i tried it and it sucks ,,surround is the only way to go,, the ASUS montor is 2 years old the 1 24 inch is 4 years old and the other 24 inch is a couple months old,,couldn't get it to work at first,,had to go into monitor properties and change some timings on the oldest monitor,,boy did I have to do some research to figure that one out,,took me days,,i,m using a gtx670 2gb,,,i was pleasently surprised that I could play crysis3 at med settings and still get decent FPS,,i really didn't think the gtx670 had that much performance,,,NFS most wanted will get me a good solid 60 FPS on high settings,,same as Dirt3,,easy 60 FPS,,

hopefully this summer I can get 2 more 27 inch ASUS monitors,,the same one are on sale at amazon doe under 270$ right now,,and a nice 780TI classy to power em up,,should be cool

it sure is amazing how crappy montors degrade over time,,the oldest 24 inch I have is way off in whites and blacks,,its farely close and isn't really that noticeable,,unless you really look at it
