It still seems unlikely that it is the PSU. Some games will play fine as long as he wants (Bioshock Infinite is one), so I don't think it is a power issue. Although you never know, I will try that if we exhaust our other options.

The bluescreens don't happen very often. Ill see if I can get him to snap a picture of the message next time it comes up.

If any hiccups, bump the vdimm a notch. If you get nothing, you're good. Then run it for like 4 hours. Good? Then success.

Also make sure the cpu is set to stable voltage (+1 notch is fine just in case, tune down later), at factory clocks.

The whole time the CPU has been up two notches in voltage (+0.050V).

He is also still experiencing crashing with loose 9-9-9-24 timings and 1333MHz set for the ram....I will get him to try the custom blend test. thanks

EDIT: He just re installed some more games to confirm its not isolated to his other games: Farcry 3, Metro Last Light, Fallout NV...Will update on the games/blend test

Make sure the timings are 8 or 7. It gets unstable when its too loose for whatever reason

Reminds me of problems I had. An excorcism was the most effective fix biggrin.gif
http://www.overclock.net/t/1150200/its-the-6850-from-hell-help

Anyway, you ran P95 with error checking right? And OCCT/Furmark with error checking? Bump the DDR3 voltage up by 0.05-0.1v or so, just to be safe. Also, run the DPC latency checker.
http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Aside from little unlikely things like that, seems like you got your bases covered... A fresh OS install should rule out software/driver issues, and you've changed the mobo. The GPU could still be the culprit if VRM/memory temps are out of line (should show up HWInfo64), or maybe the house itself has electrical problems...

Okay. Both the 1344 and 1792 blend tests passed. He ran each for a little over 30 minutes.

I am getting him to pull out 2 of the sticks and test with only 4GB, timings changed to 7-8-7 and freq @ 1333MHz. If that fails when gaming, I told him to bump the ram voltage up to 1.7V. I also told him to try a small increase on the CPU-NB.

Hoping this works since I know the C2 IMC's on the Phenom II's favoured 2 sticks rather than 4.

Yes, error checking.

Interesting. We will try that DPC checker next.

Holy vdimm! It shouldn't be any higher than ~1.56-1.58V. Start at 1.50 and go up.

IVB/Haswell don't like lots of voltage, but 1.65v is fine for Phenom II systems I believe.

Good old Sandy...

Ah, I totally forgot. In that case, don't exceed 1.66

It turns out that other games are no longer crashing, except the witcher. After a few more crashes , we got the nvidia driver reset message....that told me right away it was the video card. Thermals on the card were fine and its at completely stock clocks. It seems the witcher doesn't like my buddy's hardware config.

I will post back if any other problems come to light.

Thank you for all the help.
