When it works (and I don't think it has properly yet), it's gorgeous, but I get artifacts in youtube videos. While playing Diablo 3 with x-fire enabled @ 4k, display driver stopped and I had to do a hard reboot. I updated my display drivers to the newest beta 14.6, and I still had more issues. I went forward one day and I ended up having to do a restore point recovery and I couldn't load anything, the one time I did get BF4 to load, I was getting 25 fps on Ultra settings, with lowest texture settings, but the prior night I was getting 25FPS on Ultra @ 100%. When trying to game at 4k, my games either crash @ resolution change, or they black screen me to death, and the BF: Hardline beta, I get a DX error.

I plugged my old monitor back in and everything is stable as can be. What the heck is going on?

I'd really like to see this work, but I am really frustrated.

I had a problem 2 years ago like that and thought it was the monitor so amazon sent me another one and it artifact like that on the new one they sent me and ended up being my video card was going south. It didn't do it with my 1080p monitor but would with the 1440p cuz it was having to push more pixels. Do you see artifacts in bios or while windows is loading?

I was finally able to get some games to start and run at 4k. I installed the monitor's drivers, and updated the video settings before getting into the game(s) through Raptor desktop app. That allowed me to get BF4 and SW the Old Republic and ARMA 3 running. The games ran fine. BF4 was great, and ARMA 3 was gorgeous. I had some weirdness in tOR with holograms flickering, but I think those have always done that. The Hardline beta gives me a DX crash before I even join a server. Dota 2 doesn't support 4k, but works great @ 1440p.

That's an interesting point. Someone else mentioned that to me as a possibility, but I don't know why it would work fine in games, but not in Windows and/or youtube? How would I even test that?

Edit: I do actually sometimes get some flickering in the Windows boot screen, not often, but it has happened a few times. I always have to do a reboot and then everything is fine. I'm still caught up on the why would it work in games, but not in youtube though.

Mine would artifact or look crazy when windows was loading so if yours does not then your card is prob. ok and sounds more like driver or OS issues.

Beyond a better stand and being slightly more expensive, I've seen nothing to differentiate the two.

They are confirmed to use the exact same panel.

Triple crossfire 290s will be more than enough to run this monitor.

I can't say what pricing will be where you are at but for me, the 590D was $100 cheaper.

There's a thread from users having the same flickering issues with 290s @ 4K here:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1492088/asus-pb287q-4k-60hz-28/120#post_22421349
One user tried the monitor on a gtx760 and had no problems, but flickering appeared as soon as it was connected to his 290 again. Several threads on other sites report similar issues with 290s @ 4K. Appears to be a 290 specific issue, and there's no definitive fix yet :\

My 4K monitor arrives Wednesday (crossfire 290s).
