Samsung 4K 1ms monitor $754 it has begun - Page 13

Guys i just spoke with a couple of Korean seller and there is no warranty whatsoever for the Samsung Monitor.
In case you need to trust this sellers oversees and ship it back to them.
You cannot claim you warranty to Samsung USA also the shipping to Korea for a 28"monitor are expensive. Around $150.
Its not worth buying it. I will wait amazon release the USA Version on April.
Anyway if someone is buying it or bought already i strongly suggest the square warranty for two year at $99 so you save allot of headache in case the monitor result defect in the future.
Keep that in mind when buying from Korea thumb.gif

Good to know guess I will buy the square trade. Also this morning I got a call from fedex asking me to fill out an FCC form for proper import. I guess because it's so new and coming from Korea they need documentation showing what it is. Doesn't seem to imply any special regulation just bureaucratic paperwork courtesy of trading agreements

The old Korean sellers shipped 27" 1440p monitors as a "gift", avoiding the huge import taxes associated with this sort of thing. I know my monitor flew overseas, but I never got any sort of import form.

Why can't they do that with the Samsung headscratch.gif

There were two forms sent to me. One was the commercial invoice and indeed it was listed as gift with a value of $350.00. The FCC form was needed I think because technically the monitor is not being sold in the US yet. Amazon lists it about a month away and those from newegg are shipped via third parties in Korea.

I did the exact same thing you did.... I have been telling all the techie friends of mine how I will buy the first 60Hz 4k monitor for sale, period. I had my eyes on the Asus that is supposed to be out soon, but Samsung came in and just did it. I ordered as soon as I saw it and I am fully pleased with my decision. Especially knowing that it's finally on the way to me..... smile.gif

Sorry to burst your bubble, but these have already been out for some time with 60hz 4k:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236338
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260146

The only difference with those is you have to enable MST mode for 60hz.

You are completely right, I forgot about those. I should have said "affordable". I can barely afford $750 on a monitor, let alone $2k. This was not a purchase to be taken lightly, but since tech is my absolute favorite hobby, I felt like treating myself.

That is quite large difference actually.
