What do you think guys. Is it possible to run BF4 Medium settings (No AA) on 4K with decent FPS?

290x get 35-40 fps

yours will go 10-15 fps

No way you can play with a gtx 770 in 4k

He said at medium, not ultra with 4x MSAA. I think he'd be fine likely.

I personally did the numbers on my rig, and to really play BF4 at my current setting @ 4K, I would need to tri-fire my cards. I would need to find a grand lying somewhere.

I m playing bf4 with a mix of high - ultra settings and resolution scale at 150% (No AA)
Having avg 70-80 fps

I will try resolution scale to 200% which is equal to 4K with a mix of low - medium to see if its playable.

Im really interested on 4k but im not going to change my card any soon. I dont care about playing in maximum settings.

My main question adressing the owners of 4k monitors is:
Playing on 4k with medium to low settings is worse or better than playing in 1080p with maximum settings?

I play at 2560x1440 115hz and have for a long time now... most modern games have a barely-noticeable image quality difference in motion between ultra/max and medium-high to high settings. For BF4 I run a mix of medium and ultra settings, FXAA low, and SSAO, and am able to keep 2560x1440 115hz pegged at 110-130fps constant with my GTX 780 oc'd (eVGA FTW). Going to 4K 60hz would be around 2.2x the pixels to push per frame, so I figure without dropping a little bit on settings further I'd be sub-60 FPS, but should be able to pull 60+ consistently if I drop say lighting from Ultra to High or that kind of thing. I can post my settings screen if you want to know exactly what I am running, but it looks 90-95% as good as full Ultra but runs a heck of a lot faster.

tl;dr Yes, it would be a positive change by a huge amount.

EDIT: Just ran at 175% resolution scale for a match at the same settings I use for 2560x1440 115hz and was able to keep 50fps min, 62 avg, for the match... so a little tweaking and I'd be fine (or more oc'ing biggrin.gif ).

Thanks for the reply.

If playing on a 4k monitor (medium to low settings) with a gtx 770 is possible and the result Is better than 1080p on ultra then im ok with that.

Edit:

Thanks @GoldenTiger thumb.gif

Welcome smile.gif, and apparrently from what I'm reading BF4 res. scale is supersampling, so 200% means double on each axis aka 4x the resolution. So 150% res. scale on 1440P would give you the #'s for 2160p (4K res) exactly, rather than the 175% I tried... so it'd run better there. Remember though I'm on a 780, but I'd think it would be better at 4K vs. 1080p even with lower settings to make it run well, overall visually.
