Samsung 4K 1ms monitor $754 it has begun - Page 9

Neofeel Vendor that sales through Newegg emailed earlier today. They said the Samsung 4K was just released and the monitors were difficult to obtain and would be able to ship it out next week! Very misleading as Newegg clearly states it is in stock and Newegg shows it was shipped on Monday 3/10/14. I am keeping the order for now. They did offer a refund if I wanted it. mad.gif BS

I messaged my seller this:
Hello, I appreciate your hard work, you are a top seller and provide excellent message feedback! I was hoping you were able to ship my monitor today as it has been 5 business days since I ordered, can you please provide me a shipping update!

And I just got this reply:

Dear L88bastard,

Please wait a bit
After a while, that will be updated.

DEAR GOD WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

I havent seen any real reviews yet of this monitor. An OCN member might be the first to get a hands on experience with one of these. I know samsung has another 4k monitor in the works that has a better panel than this one, but no release date or specs released. No pressure l88bastar....tongue.gif

it means whoever supplies the monitor to him is still in the process of sending it to the seller and if you wait patiently it will hopefully arrive soon. biggrin.gif

if someone could make a nice comparison snapshot (video) side by side with your old monitor playing games or something that would be awesome. biggrin.gif

Here are some more user impressions of the U28D590 from BP2008:

As an owner of one of the samsung 4k screens, I can say it is great and that setup should be capable of pushing all the pixels. It really depends a lot on how ...

[... hold on... as I was writing this the screen just went black and I had to unplug it and plug it back in to power to make it come back ... *** ...]

... As I was saying, it really depends a lot on how much gaming you will be doing. I think most will agree that with a 3-monitor setup your main benefit is peripheral vision, whereas with a 4K monitor setup your benefit is double-the-pixels on the main display where you benefit from them the most. I'd choose the 4k for gaming, or the 3x 1440p panels for desktop work. Unless you have really good eyes, it is a little bit exhausting reading things as small as they are on this 4k screen without DPI scaling enabled.

I was going to say something about questionable quality of the cheaper Korean panels, since I've had terrible luck with them in the past. But now that seems kind of silly.

I am concerned after dealing with the DELL 24" 4K which used MST. You said the screen just went blank and had to power off then on. Sounds to much like the problems I was having with the DELL. Are you still having these issues? Guessing your running 4K @ 60Hz Right? I may cancel my order if these issues become prevalent. Thanks for the feedback, we need more feedback if possible.

I did not say any of that, I was quoting BP2008.

I also got this additional information from BP2008:
I'm definitely happy with this monitor. It is the largest, thinnest, and most power-efficient monitor I've had in a long time. It has only blacked out on me once, though sometimes - a couple times an hour maybe - a visual artifact looking like a thin horizontal line briefly appears on the screen for about 1 frame. Probably the displayport cable that came with the monitor isn't quite high quality enough.

This blacking-out has only happened to me once. Though as l88bastar has pointed out I do get an occasional and very brief graphical artifact (this is hardly noticable). I'm going to switch DP cables now and see if it improves or worsens.

I'm pretty sure the monitor does use MST because as I understand it that is the only way to get 4k@60hz over DP 1.2.
