A 1TB EVO with 50GB/day writes will last ~23,000 days. Even if you do 250GB/day writes, it will last over a decade. By then we'll have bigger and faster SSDs for far cheaper. Spending more for better durability is only needed for enterprise level servers that are doing constant 24/7 very heavy loads.

I was looking for a good choice between value/performance/durability and I found it thanks to this very clear answer.....EVO here I come smile.gif

No...def not magic but then again these are considered enterprise drives and you wouldn't use a MLC drive in a write intensive/server setup.

Checking back!!  So from what I can tell,  no real big difference between the two.  EXCEPT that I DID in fact notice one of them includes a Drive Bay Adapter.  I am so ready for my first SSD!!! :D  this is going to be AWESOME!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone!!

There are definite reasons for SLC in a write intensive server set up. Did not notice this as a basis of this discussion.

Yea,  so from the sounds of it.  A huge chunk of consumer SSD's are MLC and are what most people use.

Right you are. Your gonna trip when you 'feel' the difference between a HDD and an SSD...you'll NEVER go back! wink.gif
