Worn out BP fittings? - Page 2

Yes, that reminds me about after I disconnected all water cooling parts, I washed all of the components with 10/90 vinegar and water. Right after some of the screws on the CPU block also started rusting.
Kinda afraid of using it, just bought it in September last year, so its just 6 months old
Not happy about it tho:/

Same thing happened with one of my plated CPU blocks as well. Those tiny fins are fragile, and I'll probably never buy plated blocks again.

And here's a random tip for taking better pictures of shiny objects: turn off the flash, and take the picture in a bright room or near a window. Angle the camera and the object to get a reflection of something large and bright on the shiny surface. A white ceiling or the window itself works.

Just bought 16 black sparkle BP compression fittings on ebay for what I thought was a ridiculously good deal ($75 for a combo of regular and 45/90 degree rotary comps) but it turns out they're completely corroded on the inside. They are still totally mint on the outside. Never seen it happen to any of my fittings before, and didn't even realize it could happen in a relatively short period of time (a couple years.) I definitely wouldn't use them in a loop, but it's hard to tell how severe the corrosion is from your pics. I believe the corrosion on mine is significantly worse though.

Staining will not ruin a block. I would continue to use of them without reservation. Have you talked to BP about RMA of the fittings?

Continue use the fittings or block?
I guess the rust in the water block could spread and cause a horrid staining clouding in the loop.

And the fittings could leave a lot of small particles around the loop as well.

I've sent an email to my supplier, still waiting for answer.

They are completely fine for use.

These parts have been treated with black oxide, and the black oxide has worn away on the inside passages.

Just google black oxide wear and you will see leathermans and guns showing the wear. These fittings had great luster and a after finish applied to make them look glossy.

The blocks. The "rust" is a product of all the particulate in your loop. I don't see why it would stop just because you've noticed it. It isn't shy and will hide when people notice it. It will continue as long as there are conditions that allow it to.

I wouldn't run with the fittings long term, just until I could replace them. All the metal in your loop will increase your corrosion and oxidation issues (and staining of your tubing I imagine). You paid the premium for QDs for convenience. What is convenient about the possibility of increased maintenance? If Mayhem's does what it says (pretty much everyone loves it) and you used it like you should, then those QDs are faulty.

Just talked to the store I bought em from.

He said something about there was an chance that the nanoparticles within the mayhems pastel might polish the fitting overtime that the coating would dissappear.

But he forwarded my email with pictures to bitspower.

Guess I'm gonna talk to does guys over at mayhems.
