Reinstall Windows 8 (OEM license)

Thread Starter
This might seem like a n00by question but I want to make sure everything is OK before purchasing an SSD.

I built a PC a while back and am using Win 8 with an OEM license (which should permit transferal between computers).
I'd like to switch my 500GB HDD for an SSD (specifically the Samsung EVO), would it be as easy as switching the drives and installing windows from disc?
The authentication code should work again?

the license terms says you cant, but from experience you can. just did it recently with a family members pc, had to dial the phone number to finish the activation. however in your situation, samsung ssds come with 'samsung data migration' software, and you can follow the steps and transfer your drive to the new ssd. either option will work for you as long as you have your auth key for when you reinstall.

If it's the same computer (motherboard) then yes it will work fine and is perfectly legal as per the license. Hard drive swap does not constitute another computer. OEM is tied to the motherboard specifically and is not transferable between computers.
