Note that's with 8GB of RAM as I recently removed the mismatched sticks to see if there was any difference (there wasn't).

your cpu might be throttling. i beat your overall score with one oc'ed 290.

edit: your physics score equals that of a thuban at 4GHz.

Yep, the CPU is throttling. Your graphics score looks good, but the physics score indicates you have a problem with your CPU.

Try lowering the frequency to 4.5 and see what happens.

Interesting. Thanks guys. I'll bench at stock later and see what happens.

You can go into the bios for that board, put it in OC mode and designate your Ram speed of 1600 to get the max out of it. As for the dips, i had the same problem with my 8350. However, I was not throttling. I transferred everything onto a new board and a 3770k. I do not have those dips anymore. I was able to reduce the dips by stepping back on settings with the 8350 setup however.

either that or a power issue. make sure cpu load temp does not exceed 55C to be safe. also check other temps like NB, system using apps like HW Monitor.

Just done another full run of 3DMark (I only have the demo). http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/2635172
Maximum temp reported by HWINFO on the CPU is 49C. Maximum temp reported on 'motherboard' (NB?) is 47.4. Neither card went over 75C. CPU still at 4.8.

Will do a more sustained test such as looping Unigine Valley and see where that takes temps.

Score 3246, FPS 77.6 on Valley. Doesn't seem to stress the CPU so I'll try something else.

I think running crossfire 290x with a AMD FX 8350 @ 4.8ghz on 1080p resolution gives you a massive CPU Bottleneck, as in the CPU just doesnt have enough grunt to power your GPU Usage to 100%.

You should try running GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner while playing games, then after playing a bit ALT-TAB back to gpu-z/afterburner and watch the GPU Usage graph. If the GPU is not near constant 99-100% its just bottlenecked by the CPU.

It could be that like some people are saying the CPU's is throttling possible by overheating VRM's on the motherboard, or the CPU temp itself,
but then still its highly unlikely to push both cards to maximum usage.

btw, you disabled ulps?

even your valley is low.

edit: presscott has a point. your combined score in fs is low as well.
