2x GTX 780 vs Single GTX 780 Ti @ 5980x1080? - Page 2

I know that 2 780s will be better but I'm more concerned about how well SLI works. I'm running Crossfire X with 2 7870s right now and, tbh, it isn't that great.

I've had 2 780's in SLI and never had an issue.

Looking at this "benchmark" of how well SLIed 780s perform has left me a bit worried:
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_780_sli_review,22.html

It seems that even 2 can get only 50-60 FPS in a triple monitor setup.
Speaks to how long triple monitor rigs age (not very well) and how high requirements are.
Would getting 2 780s last a decent amount of time? I need some reassurance, preferably from people who have a similar setup.

another vote for sli 780.

Two card sli or crossfireX is not really an issue, it's when it's 3-way 4-way when things become problematic.

Go for 780 sli imo.

hmm i have to double down on a 780, and i mean they are sweet with their 235W consumption, but maybe you should wait till october for 880.
and then another 3 months for 880ti tongue.gif and so on and on

anyway 2 780 with 3gb are kinda ok for a single 1440p like i have, but in your case you should go with 290 and their 4gb if you can get them cheaply. you will also get mantle that way for some extra performance in those games like bf4, thief or star citizen and others

I can tell you from first hand experience that 2x gtx780s are much better than 2x hd7970s. Can't say for r9s though.

Get a single 780ti now and another down the line when you've saved the difference is what I would do. SLI isn't great in every game and you have the fallback of a beefier single gpu when that is the case.

That or wait a while if you can as when maxwell is properly out you will have more options and the 780/ti will be cheaper... Then again that's always the case but we are on the cusp of a new revision
