Which RAM to use...

I'm not sure which type of RAM to use. I'm split between 2x8gb at 1866mhz and 4x4gb at 1600mhz. They're going on a gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 mobo.

What would make you hesitate to use the 2x8GB 1866 DIMMS vs. 4x4GB 1600 DIMMS?

The advantage to using the 2x8GB DIMMS include:

- Faster
- Leaves you 2 sockets for future expansion

Agree with Greg, above. Take the 2x8GB 1866 DIMMS - will give your CPU a little easier time, having 2 DIMMS over 4, as it's also less strain on the memory controller.
