MSI has just announced that it is going to showcase a brand new notebooks with GeForce 800M series on board at CeBIT, which starts today.

New GeForce 800M series GPUs will be used in Dominator and Ghost gaming laptops. The same mobile graphics cards will also be used with MSI’s Nightblade gaming AIO PCs.

Theres more info on graphics cards and official performance indicator benchmarks for 800 mobile series inside source.

GM107 should be awesome for mobile users at least.

Not a repost, those are just specs. This article includes much more than that.

Question on repost etiquette, is there a difference between a leak of an announcement and an actual announcement for the purposes of the mods having to fix duplicate threads?

Nice how much the mobile sector evolved in the past few years (Al though its much slower than the desktop sector)

My single 6990m can score 4500 in 3D mark11 by sucking 100Watts i think that those new GPUs will score 4500 at under 50Watts

Onboard 860M (which is equivalent to desktop GTX 750 ti) scores 5200~ graphics score in 3DMark11 Performance at 40-50W~

I'm most likely going to upgrade my Asus K56CB with 740M to something with 860M or 850M, maybe lenovo y50 if it comes at attractive price.

Gm107 is nothing special in desktops for performance, but in laptop form, it really does crush AMD. Its more than 50% faster than a 8870m while using less power according to he benches and something like a 7970m is only 10% faster while using more than twice the power.

This should seal up the next macbook pro for Nvidia and pretty much any midsize gaming laptops, particularly when you add the driver superiority in the mobile sector..

Well, obviously, GM107 was designed for mobile first just like GK107 was. It's all about performance per watt, because the mobile market is expanding far faster than the desktop market. But you also have to keep in mind that GPUs are a scaling architecture, they are not like CPUs. If the base line low end part has double the PPW over Kepler, that means the high end Maxwell parts will also be double the performance per watt. GTX 780 level performance should be achievable with Maxwell's architecture using only 125W TDP, if Maxwell scales linearly. And that isn't a far out assumption since Kepler scaled linearly with more CUDA cores.

Anyway, it's fun to guess about these things. I agree that GM107 is going to be huge for ultrabooks. AMD simply doesn't have an answer at 60W TDP, their 65W part performs at less than half the speed of GM107. But, AMD has always been great with desktop performance...not so much with mobile performance per watt.

The gtx 860m will be very interesting. If it can be overclocked, I like to imagine it can match pricier models while maintaining lower power consumption.
That's perhaps the only gpu I am looking at for the laptop I am about to buy.
