[wccftech] Intel Haswell-E X99 Chipset “Wellsburg” Details Leaked - Page 2

Hmm. If they used SO-DIMMs could they bring x99 to the mITX form factor? Cause if so, do want. A lot.

Exactly, I don't think we will have K 8 core. We will have 2 K 6 core and 1 X 8 core. Hopefully I'm wrong thumb.gif

For someone generally unfamiliar with the E's, what sort of designs should we expect from Haswell-E? Both six and eight? Both locked and unlocked?

All unlocked, no quads and at least one octocore. The question is ,are they replacing 4820k quad with a hexa and the ivy hexacores with octocores or the only octocore will be the 4960X successor. Either way,I am getting one (not the X model though biggrin.gif )

I've literally postponed my entire build waiting for Haswell-E 8 core and Nvidia 880's. End of the year can't come soon enough.

Any word whether they'll have improved the TIM situation to avoid the issues that prompted delidding?
Indeed, next upgrade...looking forward to seeing the 8 core pricing as well. biggrin.gif (and overclocking headroom!)

The problem is that if they only offer 4-core and 6-core models for the sub $1000 price range they wont see any adoption for the platform. Next to no one is going to buy the chips when they don't offer any meaningful performance increases over the previous generation.

X99 needs at least some buyers otherwise the platform wont get the attention it needs from memory and mobo manufacturers.

the enthusiast line usually has 1 "K" cpu with 2 disabled cores, 1 "K" cpu with all cores enabled, and 1 "X" cpu with all cores enabled, extra cache, and higher clocks. Pretty sure it will follow this pattern again. If the 8-core "K" model comes in at $600, I'll bite. Any more than that, my dollars are spent better elsewhere.

That's routed from the PCH, Gen 3 comes directly from the CPU thus is not shown on that drawing.
