how should i install my corsair h100 in my thermaltake overseer rx-1 case ? please help

I just bought a factory sealed refurbished corsair h100 for $60 from tiger direct because I was not happy with the temps with my thermaltake nic c5 air cooler . now my case is a thermaltake overseer rx 1 I have mounting points for x2 200mm to x2 120mm top fans so I am, going to remove the preinstalled 200mm top fan and use it as a side intake . the way the top fans can be installed is under the top case cover and above the case frame so in between the case frame and the case cover should I make the h100 fans intake or exhaust ? and should I install the fans in between the case frame and top cover or the other way around ?

can some one tell me if I should make the fans intake or exhaust and should the fans be placed on top of the radiator or underneath the radiator and do I even have to remove the top fan

Boy thats a tough question.

if you make the fans intakes, it will mess with your case airflow and also create negative air pressure. ( your case will suck air and dust in everywhere it can).

If you make them exhaust, they will be using warm case air across the rad. I just put a custom loop in and had this same dilemma, but I chose to make theme exhausts. I don't see temps over 49C at load, but your results will be different. I would make them push fans if you go this route.

Best place is always external, next best place would be in the front of the case, or the floor. third best would be on the rear with the rear fans as intakes (if it will fit), second to last would be top mount exhausting, last choice would be top mount intake.

I am happy with mine as a top mount exhaust, its all internal, and 10C cooler than the hyper 212+ it used to have on it. While I was researching this as well I did see lots of other people with top mounts.

Hope this helps

I made the fans exhaust fans because I was unable to remove the top 200mm exhaust fan because 2 of the screws got striped the 200mm top exhaust fan is placed above the the case frame and underneath the top cover so I was able to install the radiator and the fans underneath the case frame on the top my highest temp are 69c and my average temps are 67c 68c after 15 minutes prime 95 full load test . I wanted to use the top 200mm as a side intake but I don't know how I can remove it because 2 of the screws are striped . it a brand new case to

Im confused! I have the same case and same cooler, im able to mount the radiator up top on the underside of the case. But with the radiator and the fans mounted up top on the underside of the case, it hits my ram.....Im guessing yours fits because you have a lower profile ram compared to mine :/ I have 32gb of the Kingston HyperX Predators. Yours would have to be close to hitting your ram yeah??

cheers!

the ram I have is the Kingston hyperx beast ddr3 2400 x2-8 16gb . there is about 1mm of space in between my radiator fan and my ram . it is not the size of the ram that is limiting you its the placment of the ram on your motherboard . my ram is very tall even if my ram was 3 inches taller I would still be able to fit the corsair h100i in a push pull configuration because the placment of the ram on my motherboard . there is 1mm of space from my corsair fan and the ram slots on my motherboard

Yeah that's another reason why mine isn't fitting...My memory slots must be higher then yours. I need to get some lower profile memory if i am to fit this water cooler :/ Sounds like too much effort, may just end up taking the water cooler back for a refund haha Had my eye on these http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231572

Cheers!

wow I just checked out the Kingston hyperx predator that ram is like over 3 inches tall . i also checked out the ram your thinking about getting $350 is a lot of money to spend just to have a corsair h100i in a push pull configuration . have you thought about getting a new case ? i am thinking about getting a new case because the top 200mm fan that came with my case is stripped and it is stuck as a exhaust . you could put the corsair h100i fans above the case frame and under the top panel and put another 120mm fan under the case frame on the side where the cpu is and have half of a push pull configuration .

I don't know if a case will fix it, I mean the thermaltake overseer is already a full tower. I'm not sure if that will fix my situation....unless you can find one where the framework within the case is taller. or the motherboard is mounted slightly lower.

there's a lot of cases that have more clearence for thicker radiators I'm thinking about the phanteks enthoo pro or the corsair air 540 because those cases have a lot of clearance for thick radiators and you can't see the power supply mounted in the inside of the case from the window side panel. I'm also thiinking about getting sleeved cable extensions
