Very nice. smile.gif I've got the 3DMark 11 bench, maybe I should post my results to feel inadequate next to your setup. tongue.gif

I'm not too familiar with good numbers for high-end systems on this benchmark, but from your experience, is there much of a gap between 290 and 290X?

What are you even running now? I thought you sold your 6970s.

There isn't much difference between a 290 and 290X, certainly not enough to justify spending $150-$200 more. The difference is supposedly 3-5%. You only need to overclock a 290 about 30mhz higher to get the same performance as a 290X. I see people with 290X all the time and my 290 at 1200mhz outperforms them.

My cards outperform 780s at much higher clocks, and Titans and 780tis at similar clocks. For example: http://hwbot.org/submission/2523417_neurotix_3dmark___fire_strike_2x_radeon_r9_290_18480_marks Look at all the different entries on the right side under "2x 3dmark Fire Strike Ranking".

Obviously, the reason this is good is because I paid about $1100 for my cards yet I'm getting performance on the level of dual Titans or 780tis. 2 Titans would be $2000 and two 780tis would be $1600. If my cards were actually MSRP of $450, that's $900 for the same performance.

Thanks for the info. I did sell one 6970, and I'm going to try sell the other in about a week or so. I'll actually probably end up selling most of my system since prices are pretty good for nice 775 stuff right now since people figured out how to put old 771 server processors into 775 and getting great results. And then I'll just wait out for Devil's Canyon and probably pick up a used 290 around that time.

Main reason I was asking is that I didn't see a big gap between 6970/6950 at the time, but the price was right on the 6970 that I just decided to go for the top of the line card. This time around with the 290 (at least at MSRP) at the cost of what the 6970 used to be, I'm feeling like I don't want to pay much more than that.

So, I got some red zipties for my fans and also used some small red zipties on my PCI-E and 24-pin cables.

This should make jetpak happy. thumb.gif

Good choice. Neuro and I have sapphires. Good experience with them, hiccup with RMAs but not too bad. Windforce I think was the first aftermarket 290 if I recall.
