Actually, it has two 6-pin that's "hard-wired", and two 6+2 cables that are modular. I'm a bit concerned though, I found two thumbscrews and a small metal piece behind the motherboard. Maybe he fried the board thinking.gif
Guess we'll find out soon thumb.gif

Gosh who just throws out a whole PC?????? If I blow something I 1 try and replace said parts. Or 2, Sell all old working parts to help pay the way for the next build! With all this stuff the origional owner of the computer might at the very least been able to get himself a 280X graphics card if he sold the stuff.....

Dude, I have a 2nd computer with an ASUS 680i + E5300 + 2x 2GB DDR2 800MHz and 2x ASUS GTX8800

THEY STILL ROCK!!!

After a while I swapped the motherboard for an ASUS 780i + Q9450 + 4x 2GB DDR2 1066MHz with the same 8800's

AND IT ALSO STILL ROCKS wink.gif --> and overclocks like hell! (I see you have the same Zalman 9700 NT cooler)

Can't compare it with an i7 setup but it will do the job.

Weird indeed the owner threw it away, but he prolly got angry cause it prolly didn't boot (because of the metal behind the mobo that shorted it wink.gif --> I hope for you tongue.gif)

EDIT, so it works biggrin.gif --> CPU-Z and GPU-Z for some info!!!

wow thats awesome.

reminds me of when I was in class for my CCNA, There was an A+ student who ( after passing the A+ ) built a $3000 computer and didnt use motherboard standoffs and plugged a mini molex 4 pin ( for floppy ) into a PWM fan header bahaha! sadly in his case he killed the $350 motherboard. it was one of the top of the line socket 1366 EVGA boards. FTW3 I think? Still not sure if it died through the fan header or shorting on the steel motherboard backing.

Absolutely hilarious.

I don't have a drive prepared for it yet, and I have to go to a friend of mine to check his computer. He said he could smell rubber wth.gif I'll see if I can update in a few hours smile.gif

Decided to pull the guts out of an old Lian Li case, and use the motherboard-tray as a testbench. The hard-drive mount is sketchy, but doable. It's fastened with double-sided tape.
The PSU however, is much more challenging. I'll probably rip some more parts out of that poor case (at this rate, its facing a slow and painful death rolleyes.gif ) and see if I can't screw it into the bottom of the tray somehow, and still be stable. It can't balance on top of it like it does now. Testbench in progress (Click to show)

And a side-note; I need to get a new keyboard for it. I tried using a HTPC-keyboard from Logitech, and it was outright SLUGGISH. That's putting it nicely. There was a 2-3 seconds delay on every action. I sincerely hope that it's a problem with the keyboard+motherboard, and not the motherboard itself.
And I probably need to get an internal DVD-drive for it aswell. I could not get it to boot from an external Sammy-DVD. I also noticed the board had a tendency to get stuck on 2b during the boot-process, whatever that is.

On a brighter side, I did manage to boot into the OS that was installed on the drive. But Server 2012 R2 isn't really what I need or want on this baby tongue.gif It will be reformatted ASAP.
Hopefully I'll be able to sort this out tomorrow smile.gif

Sorry to dissappoit you, but the HDD was salvaged from an utterly smashed HP 4330s redface.gif My brother used to work for a school, and one day he came home with a laptop they had recieved. Some of the students think that because they have one free repair a year, they'll get a new laptop if it "accidently" breaks completely. I feel sorry for the fools rolleyes.gif
